    Hi
I have a clicking noise from my front wheel, looks like it's the disk moving as it passes through the brake pads, the disk seems to have a lot of side play, is this normal?
I haven't had the bike long and it's done it since I've had it.
I have done a video of the side play which I'll link to once I've uploaded it to YouTube.

    Thanks
    Rob

Hi I have a Thruxton which had the same problem as yours by the sound of it. It made clicking/clunking noises when going over bumps etc. Got to the point where I thought it was the head bearings, turns out it's a floating disk and should move a bit. If you apply the brake and no noise is evident then that's probably the cause. Unless you have a massive amount of play I wouldn't worry. Try going round all the little discs/holes and check the are not Seized, give em a good scrub with soapy water, check your pads for excessive uneven wear.

As Crispey just said you have a floating front disc on your bike so by it's nature it will make a bit of noise and move when going over lumps and bumps. It's important that the bobbins (large circular retaining fixings) so was them out on a regular basis with hot soapy water and a dish washing brush.

By the way, welcome to the Triumph Asylum.

My other bikes have floating disks so I understand the concept and level of noise, but this clicking isn't right, here is the video:

Is that excessive movement or normal for these bikes? I have read that Triumph disks are much looser than other brands and this is quite normal but want to check to be sure.

You're getting squeaking because, imo, the bobbins need cleaning. The amount of movement seems fine. Lots and lots of hot soapy water and a brush.

It passed the MOT although the examiner said he wouldn't ride it with those disks and would replace them with EBC's.
I am tempted to change them as they are noisy and it's always in the back on my mind that they are so loose when riding it, can't imagine how nasty it would be if a disk came apart... :-(

Has anyone else swapped theirs out?
