    Hi All,

Having joined the forum a while ago I was going to get a 2016 speed triple.

I'm coming from a multistrada which is currently having an engine rebuild due to failing main bearings. This after a cylinder head replacement due to porosity before I bought it and all in less than 10k miles.

I've lost faith in the Ducati and as its coming out of warranty I've chopped it in for a 2014 speed triple and some cash.

Hopefully picking the bike up when I get back home from work in 10 days or so!

I too have owned a multi, although thankfully mine was trouble free. The monster on the other hand...

Good luck, although you won't need it. These engines have been refined over the years, they are TRULY excellent.

    Welcome Clarkey:),
I too bought a Multistrada (after many years of Hinckley Triumphs), a new 2013 1200 S Touring with all the toys, trouble was most of them broke! After a dozen trips to the dealer in two years I cried enough. Back on a Speed 94R :D:D:D

I had a Duke 944 ST2 for a couple of years a few years ago. 100% reliable and no negative issues at all. Great bike for me.

    Hi Col,

Yes it does seem the Multistrada is their worst model? I've not heard of as many issues on Diavels or the sports bikes?

I'm afraid I can't see myself owning a Ducati again. I've always wanted a speed triple at some point so looking forward to getting my hands on the bike!

From what I've heard the Multistrada seems to be the worst for faults. To be fair a lot of these big, expensive bikes from BMW and others seem to be being pumped out fast without proper testing.

There just so much electronics on them nowadays - the KTM1190 was the same. You could just go for a ride, but there's so many buttons to press you just have to try them, don't you?

That's one of the reasons I went for the 94R as opposed to the new 1050s/r with the changeable modes and all sorts of button controlled paraphernalia.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no technophobe, and if you like gadgets, then I'm sure you will enjoy these machines, but I just wanna ride without distraction and be in total control of everything bike related.

    Just my opinion like...

I've got no issue with electronics and mode as such, what i do have a problem with is spending 17k + on a supposedly premium bike and it is less reliable than even a second hand 3k bike.

I had a 02 fire blade with 24k miles on it which just went on and on, no problems whatsoever .

Because of these issues and a downturn in my industry I've decided to go for a cheaper hopefully more reliable but still awesome bike!

    Picked it up today.

Very impressed to say the least. It's more nimble than I thought it would be. Even with all the fancy suspension settings my Multistrada had it felt heavy and certainly doesn't handle as well as the Speed triple does. The Clutch does feel quite heavy but I'll get used it. Box is fine and the throttle is fine. It feels quicker than the demo 16' plate I tried, might be the engine is looser.
