Some fun to be had on that! That's pretty much what I did with my FE570 when I got it home before I rode it. CAT removed, indicators removed, frame guards, fork slider socks, radiator fan and Barkbusters fitted. I also modified the, now redundant, indicator switch to change the power mode and fitted the enduro chain and sprockets as it came with both road and off road gearing.
Not MY non - Triumph, but got about 75 miles in on an MT-03 today. What a fun little hooligan of a bike it is. Punchy and easy to ride and sounds great even on the stock exhaust .
I celebrated my one-year anniversary with my 2024 Harley Street Glide. I bought it one year ago on Valentines Day. Here it is near Salida, Colorado on our way back home last August. And here’s his mileage on our “anniversary”.
I took my V-Strom 800 out for a 90 mile ride yesterday. First time it's been out since early November (family comitments mainly) and you cannot beat two wheel therapy when you're feeling rubbish. Strange week - funeral service for my dad on Monday but the ride out on Sunday has left me feeling a lot better. This was also the first time I've been happy to ride in the winter months in seven years. My previous bike was a T100 and realising the nice shiny cases were unlacquered meant it was always laid up for nearly five months until the road gritters were put away.
Yep! Actually, @Eldon, it’s two bags. There’s a taller one that sits on the pillion area made by Tourmaster. I’ve used that bag for big trips for a couple of years now and it works great. And for this particular trip, I added a smaller bag made by Nelson-Rigg that sits behind the passenger back rest on a small luggage rack. The trip we were on included a family wedding in Minnesota so I had some wedding attire and “extras” that I needed to pack. The entire trip was nearly 4,000 miles over 15 days.
I’m sorry for your loss of your dad, @Sir Trev. It’s good that you were able to get out on your bike for some moto therapy.
Wow, 4000 miles in 15 days that's some going, your numbers over there are bonkers compared to the UK. I did 1500 miles over about 11 days and I think that would be classed as a fair trip over here.
A few years ago (2018 to be precise) I did 4500 miles in two weeks just touring Scotland. Admittedly I traveled up from Dorset which added a fair few miles and on the way back I plotted a route that avoided motorways and dual-carriage ways. I did 700 miles in one day riding back roads from Inverness to Dorset. I'd rented a house as a base in Glen Moriston and every day (when it wasn't raining which was only two days) I mapped out full eight hour rides along all the best roads in the Highlands, including doing the NC500 in two hits. Even in a small country it's amazing how the miles rack up when you've got great roads to ride on. I did go in June which helped. Avoid the Highlands like the plague in August as it's rammed with campervans and it's got worse since Covid.
One week, six days actually, on the isle of man, I managed to rack up 1100 miles on the island. Up first thing, a quick lap of tt course and back for breakfast. Ride out for the day, maybe even watch a bit of racing
One year I went to the TT and used 1 tank of fuel for the whole week-including the trip to and from Heysham/home. Used several more gallons of lager though!
I forgot my phone, so no photos.....so this didn't really happen ....but I did a quick 70ish miles to the Baffle House and back on my Hyperstrada. Cold but sunny and it seems like spring is definitely just around the corner .
That was our MO when we visited the TT and even more so when at the MGP which we grew to like more as it was less crowded with a more relaxed atmosphere. In 1994, can't remember if it was at the TT or MGP, I decided not to fit a new rear tyre on the Fireblade, figuring the half worn existing one would last but we got so many laps in I ended up having a new one fitted at a bikes shop on the island which I paid a premium for but I was just grateful they had one in stock! I had a bit of a wait though as there were several bikes outside the shop, all up on stands with the rear wheels out, all waiting for tyres.
I went to the 1994 TT practice week with x3 others, on bikes, and the ex-wife driving her company van. Early morning practice, up at 04.00 Yes got to agree @Pegscraper I grew to enjoy the Manx gp more.
First time I went to the TT was with T-Mill tours on a coach trip in 78 to see the legend, Mike Hailwood. We went over in 79 on the bikes and a mate in an Invacar, yep, We were there in Millennium Year, had the sticker etc. Best memory, me with 7yr old daughter on pillion on my Bonnie, chasing a fairly traditional sidecar outfit that had broken down and being overtaken on wrong side of the open roads by another sidecar which was more triangular like Rolf Biland's, came past like I had stopped, I didn't even see him coming, lol.
Best memory for me, but totally stupid looking back Sat at Brandywell 2011 awaiting the course opening car. I'm on a Yamaha 600 Thundercat with my 14 year old son on the back. In front is two lads who were together, nothing to do with us, one on a zx12 and the other on a Fireblade. " are you going to race them dad?" " hang on, we're two up, they're solo and have 50 bhp or so more" Course car goes by, rope drops and off we go. The zx12 was leading into windy corner but the Fireblade nipped down the outside. Ok, if he can so can we, and so we did, with the young 'un apparently waving as we undercut him Against the Fireblade we, I, had my work cut out. Redline was at 13500 but they are strong motors so we were maxing that. I managed to get past the blade exiting Kates Cottage and we arrived first at the Creg having caught the course opening car who was now talking to marshalls. Absolute bonkers, but red mist and all that, naturally now with age, I'm more sensible.....
