I have a triumph shaped itch to scratch and not sure as I have never owned one ('cept a dead Tiger Cub many moons ago, which don't count 'cos I never rode it) so what can anyone tell me about the new bikes, esp the Street Twin.
Is it all press hype (MCN gives 5 stars!!) is it miles (per gallon) better than the SE and T100 which I have been oggling for some time.

Help me. I'm so confused I ended up at a H-D dealership last week!

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Some Street Twin owners on here will help you out I'm sure, but the "old" T100 and SE are also fine machines.
Stay away from the H-D dealer!

Hi chap. Plenty of ST owners around, not my style but horses for courses etc. Feel free to ask as I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice

    Haven't ridden in 20 years, I was a B.S.A devotee til I met a man in a brown Montego at a junction.
I'm over that now (I'm 50+) and ready to feel the vibes again, or I'm having a mid-life.
I don't need to race everyone on the road, no track days, just want a comfy, good looking, twin with a great soundtrack that I can do some touring/shopping on.
Any info on the Speed Twin v Bonneville would be great.

I think you'll need to rest ride both to see which you prefer. Loads of after market mods for the old Bonnie so you can customise to your hearts (and wallets) content. Not too much stuff available for the S T at the moment. Not sure how many people on here have ridden both.

Hi horned one, welcome from me a Street Twin owner for 4 months now and loving it more every time I ride it. It's my first Triumph so I can't comment on whether or not it's better than previous models but it's by far the easiest bike I've owned to get on with..... my old Granny could ride this bike and she's forgotten what motorcycles are :D

Low seat height makes for very surefooted paddling about, the very light (slip assisted) clutch lever combined with a slick gearbox all add to my enjoyment of this bike and that's before I mention the Vance & Hines soundtrack coming from the aftermarket pipes I bought for it..... my god it sounds fantastic :D

I can never get any more than a tenner of petrol in it and it goes a long way for that, I find it very easy to keep clean...I'll have this bike for a very long time which is unusual for me as I do like a change every couple of years.

Nothing wrong with a Harley!!! Big tourers are a little heavier but they have round wheels and roll just fine and any weight disappears when you ride it. I have the HD and the Triumph Speed Triple and they are equally great in their own way!

Only a test ride will solve it but bet the HD makes you smile!

Mine although not a tractor in the true sense was not bad, but I never got used to the feet forward thing or indeed the weight, something my dodgy hip complained about every time I tried to manhandle it around the garage, image.jpeg

    Thank you Half Ton.
Have decided to save the £3-4 K and go with a beauty of a 6 year old Bonnie 865 SE I've just seen. I'm sure I'll enjoy spending the money I've saved on lovely little trinkets for her, so..............
any advice on louder pipes, remaps, tunes, gold pin-striping sissy bars and fringed leather panniers .....aaaaaaaargh! it's already starting to take me.

Fringed leather panniers aside; I have already checked out the TTP goodies as even the wife said the bike needs to make a nicer (louder?) noise, the standard tune and pipes are a little tame....shame.

Anybody have any recommendations (or avoid at all cost cautions) for aftermarket pipes before I go do down the re-tune road. I've looked at TecParts so far and they seem to make nice noises, any advice on 2-1 v 2-2, short or long? I will soak up any and all info like the sponge I am

I got a Triumph and I feel better already.

Hi mate i have a street twin and its fantastic i cannot tell u how great the little bike is, i am selling mine because i went from an america which is the most comfy bike ever ( and that incs about 8 harleys i have had) to the twin but i am 64 and too fragile to tour on it. after about 50 miles i hurt all over so i am going back to an america. the wife brought one as well to replace her old bonny and she loves it and is happy to ride it all day but then she is 12 years younger than me, so i suppose its down to how many miles a day u want to do and how fit you r. The street twin is without a doubt the best most exciting upright bike i have ever owned and bear in mind its about 50 pounds lighter at least than a harley sportster and everything aka screen engine bars blah blah are soooo much cheaper than a harley. regards bob

Take two asprin and lie down till you exercise the HD ghost.
The Twin is good, the T120 much better, IMHO I have a T100 which I love, try them all before you splash out Good MPG from them all.
