In a fantasy garage far, far away if a fan of light, fast, sleek sports type machines were to think of another type of machine that would better accompany a rider on a big cruiser…a Triumph Nightstorm for example…what sort of steed might suit them?

    Speed Twin 900?
    Street Twin 900?
    Indian Scout Bobber?
    Kawasaki Z900RS?
    Kawasaki Z650RS?
    Ducati Scrambler?

I like a few of the Royal Enfield 650s like the Bear and Guerrilla very much style - wise, but feel as if they’ll lack puff a bit, especially for those nippy not - much - room - to - spare overtakes…

A Honda Rebel is a HARD NO :p.

Before excitement builds…this is very much in the realms of “possibly, maybe, one day…”. I am just having fun looking around.

More money but I'd chuck a 1200 Speed Twin in there. If you want a relaxed retro vide but with proper go and handling when you want it.

Z650RS is such an attractive bike, and has all the performance I would need.

When the Speed comes back from repair, a "swap" for a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is tempting me at the moment.....

I guess I'm still in that 'retro' phase that brought me to the Speed 400.... !

Your Speed is STILL not back from repair? How many months now? If the accident had happened earlier you would have lost a full summer riding season. Totally unacceptable that a new bike cannot be repaired quickly and could put me off buying one. Come on Triumph, get your act together :(

Bump was late September, most work has been done but they found out just before Christmas that the head bearings need replaced and these are presumably somewhere between India and UK! I'm glad it is all happening over the winter!!

Head bearings can be got anywhere. I could probably get some by tomorrow. I don't buy that one

I had an original Z650 in 1979. Got written off in a SMIDSY incident so I plopped the engine in a rigid frame and rode it to Brittany. My kidneys survived, we had a great time actually.

We went to Fowler's for a mooch today...I fell in love with this Hyperstrada, after all, it's a Hypermotard which I have always hankered after but look....so practical with panniers and a centre stand :p. I didn't know they existed, but now I do....hmmmm .

I've already done this, I have the big touring bike AND a Speed Twin 1200. The 1200 is light, quick, looks good and great in traffic. If I were buying again today I would probably get the new Honda Hornet 1000 SP; I think they cost under £10K new which is way less than I paid for a 1 Yr old ST 1200.
