Wish I'd had the option of a speed awareness course :triumph:

I'm actually suprised you weren't offered the chance considering so long since your last speeding offence, you can't be offered within a four year term of your last awareness course.
But I was 10 mile over too doing 40 in a 30 zone, so being the same mph over and all that,
But it's stated it's at there discretion and a course is not always offered.
Can't unfortunately argue with police laws no matter how wrong they are.

The actual offence was in May but due to the fact it was a hire car and further to that was booked through work it has taken this long to finally get to me and sorted so I suspect the lengthy delays meant that any offer for a speed awareness course had long since gone :(

Thanks for that, yes times definitely been against you stopping your chance of being offered a SAC.

ACPO guidelines are 10% + 2mph, BUT they are only guidelines. I sent a freedom of information request to West Mercia and they said their static cameras and camera vans use these guidelines, but there's a copper on a marked bike who hides up in 30 limits around the Wyre Forest area that has a camera/speed gun and I know a nunber of people who've been done for 32 in a 30. Nasty man.

How's this for a sorry tale.
Used the RangeRover to drive to Aberdeen to work.
Stayed overnight in a hotel. Got up next morning to "electrical system fault" & "Battery Fault" on the dash.
Drove to long stay and went to work for two weeks.
Came back 1530 last Wednesday, unlocked the car. Wouldn't start.
Called AA through bank card, belts all good, battery flat, no charge from alternator. Charged it up enough to get it out of long stay and yo the forecourt of a nearby service station.
Called recovery, part of National Breakdown, they turned up at 2000hrs, with a car already on their wagon. Put a multimeter on the battery, batteries in multimeter flat.
Told by N.B. to get a hotel, recovery to a local garage would be organised the next morning, as their "plan" gives them 24hrs to get a local repair. They eventually picked up the car and took it to a local garage at 1800 that night.
I'd hired a car and left at 1400, key at the service station.
Rang the garage the next day to be told by the mechanic it was the starter motor. Told him not to be daft.
Saturday rang N.B. to ask the status of the car.
Told the local garage couldn't fix it and it would now be recovered. It arrived at home at 0230 Tuesday 24th.
Luckily I live round the corner from the garage, I know the owner, as they were leaving for their Xmas do at 1230, he gave me a key to their barriers to get the car inside.
AA with the bank card charge 4.5p a mile to do a recovery.
N.B. wanted £1400 to do an immediate recovery. Free if they can't get it repaired within 48hrs.
Bill for hotel and car hire is going to N.B.
Recovery was from Aberdeen to Huddersfield. Immediate recovery cost based on return mileage.
If they'd just recovered it a new alternator would have been on on Friday.

    "No charge from alternator" ...Hello??

Recently had a similar issue, with the battery getting "smoking hot". The owner replaced the battery three times... finally somebody refused the warranty replacement until the alternator was replaced.
    Problem solved.
The sad part {along with the parts guys} the owner works as an auto mechanic.

No, first thing to go in 143000 miles.
Think I'll see if it'll double that.
It's only an alternator, could have been fixed quickly if the recovery lot had a reasonable system in place, not dependant on third parties being available "something out of our control".
