Triumph 1050 Gt Se Sports Tourer

  1. Hi all,

I have a Triumph 1050 GT SE Sports Tourer 2013 (purchased new) - I am in Sydney Australia BTW.

I have had problems with my bike just stopping, no power after about 40 minutes of riding. It is like the immobiliser is kicking when riding; however, when I cruise to a stop and try to restart, it doesn't, and there is only power to the headlights.
A fiddle around, and it seems to get going again.

    Fast forward to now:

    1. I changed the battery in it a week ago.
    2. Out for a ride today and after about 40 minutes it just stopped again. No matter what there was no power to the bike except the headlights.
    3. I fiddled around with what looked like the relays. The only way I could get the bike to start and get me home was to leave them unseated, as per Bike_image 1.
    4. When I got home, I reseated them, and the bike again would not start.

    So my question(s) are:

    a. Are these relays?
    b. Are they easy to replace?
    c. Do relays "die"

Otherwise the bike is running like a dream.

    Thank you :)

@Pat59 Chances are you have a loose or broken connection there somewhere usually around the headstock or ignition. Make sure all joints and plugs are free from corrosion and dirt. Keep us in the know

  3. Thank you for your reply
I have ordered new relays. Fingers crossed it is not a wire issue. I have checked for corrosion and it is pretty clean but it is also very tightly packed so it is hard to see.
