Is that AMERICAN small or UK large? Bear in mind, a UK estate agents idea of a garage isn't much bigger than an 8 x 4 shed to satisfy the paper criteria for upselling .... w4nkers!
Thank you, @Wessa. Yes, there is a long road to recovery for many communities in FL, GA, TN and NC and sadly many lives were lost.
Thanks, @Sandi T. Yes, I hope her arm heals fully and quickly. Her riding buddy shared what was a whole other story about the incident. An older man and his wife were on their way to her Dr's appointment (a significant trip for them) and had a feeling/urging to leave very early for it (to the tune of 3 hours!). They were right behind the pair of women riders when the one dropped her bike and hurt her arm. The couple stopped to help and stayed with them throughout the whole mess of dealing with everything. He, being a rider himself, even rode her motorcycle to a safe place, took them to the hospital, and stayed with them throughout the ordeal and providing transportation to them, shuttling his wife to and from her appointment in the midst of helping them. All told he was with them for 9 hours! He was in the right place and had the time to help because he listened to the urging to leave 3 hours early! What a couple! Another testament of the motorcycling community we share.
Had a trip to the NEC Motorcycle Live, great to see most of the major manufacturers represented, a few were absent, Aprilia for one, however lots to see. I was impressed with some new models, for some reason I really liked the rather quirky look of the Suzuki GSX-S1000, and it felt really comfy, and with a further revised GSXR 1000 K5 engine it should be reasonably quick, with great low and mid range torque. Came across an excellent prepared Hyabusa putting out 440 BHP, lovely welding done by a young enthusiast. I was pleased to see Norton back with a quality tried and tested range of machines, and credit to Indian company TVS Motors who bought the Norton company, and paid out customers who lost money and machines when Stuart Garner committed fraud, he was later convicted and handed a Suspended Sentence. I am doing bits of work on my STRS as time allows, lots more parts Cerakoted and waiting to be fitted. Ride safe all from an ageing Rocker.
Yes he turns out some really great machines, I could see myself riding that one, although not sure about longer rides, but what fun could be had.
Went for a rip through the woods today What a processor this is....... cold, what cold, get that log burner ripping
I am seriously thinking of taking out my fairly recently fitted gas fire and having a wood burner installed, it would keep the house warmer and with ever increasing gas and electricity charges, not to mention daily rip off standing charges, it may make sense, and logs won't be an issue as I have access to some woodland.
Just returned from a week in a cottage with a logburner fitted, unbelievable the way it heats the whole house ,,I can thoroughly recommend it,,toasty toasty toasty.
Here's mine tonight after a pretty hard day. Done a load of wood, then a bit of vermin control, now sat toasting with a glass of wine and the gun drying off before bed. 7kw and has brought our heating bills down massively.
Here you go @Iceman not a bad stove, cool handle for gloveless refills, good parts availability and generally no complaints. The in-laws stove has more air control but their unit has a brass handle which means gloves are imperative, plus their handle is on the wrong side for right-handed people ( open door with left hand, shove wood in with right, as in our set up above seems more logical to me).
I have been getting new boots for the Multistrada. The Pirelli Scorpion Trail II’s were completely shot after our Jerez trip and whilst they have been really good I thought I would give Dunlop Roadsmart IV’s a go as they have a similar profile but are more road focussed. Only time will tell
Couple weeks ago I did the "free power mod" and a regulator/rectifier upgrade for the DRZ400. Also installed a "tail tidy" with an LED tail light. Dragged a Harley Sportster project over to my workshop (the garage attached to the house where I live; had it stored at a rental house) and resumed work. It's going to be sort of a bobber/cafe racer. A 2007 with fuel injection, but wanted to make it simple and lighter so ripped it all out and installed a flat slide carb. I removed a lot of weight, including the ape-hangar bars, heavy fenders etc. and replaced with clip-ons, rearsets, taller suspension and so on. The wire harness alone was around 10 pounds! I started this project 6 years ago and then got distracted - about time it gets finished. Should be done by spring.
@Marco Wikstrom So cool, Marco! I know there are several guys in particular on here who'd be quite interested in your projects. And photos. Two that come immediately to mind are @Iron and @darkman. Iron and Darkman, am I forgetting other ace builders?
I didn't notice the old Aardvark plate frame when I rode behind you a month ago. The bike is very nice though. In person even better than the photos.
Some photos. Sat down yesterday and made a checklist of everything still left to do. Plenty! It will be a very stripped down bike - skeletal and minimalist, but with some modern safety features such as a brake light and turn signals. The challenge will be to hide the wiring while keeping it clean looking; I have some ideas.
