Just make sure you use WD40 Specialist Contact cleaner, NOT regular WD40 lubricant which will not clean contacts and leaves a residue. I've used Servisol switch and contact cleaner/lubricant for years.
I should have asked earlier, when the bike cuts out, does the starter still work? If so, then the clutch. side stand and cut-out switches are all OK and it is just the ignition circuit that is at fault.
Sticking my neck out a bit, but either fixed or sold he won't reply I don't think. 16 messages on one thread, his own, and nothing for more or less a month. It's deja vu all over again
Hi, I am still here & sincere apologies but have only just picked up your messages! Have logged in to see what others are doing but didn’t check my own post!! Haven’t resolved the problem yet & haven’t really had time to do any more work on it! Wife has been quite poorly over the last few months so everything just got put on hold! I should get a picture on here of the love of my life!!…….my bike that is!!

Thank you so much. It really has been a rubbish summer. Wife diagnosed with Breast cancer in July, Mastectomy in August, chemo started in September & then sectioned with a nervous breakdown in October! She's back home now & mentally, a lot better but a long way to go! Physically, chemo is draining but she's holding up well! Our summer holiday, with daughter & grandkids - cancelled. My holiday with a mate to an archeological dig over Bristol way - cancelled! Normally, in summer, me & big brother go out on tour for a week or so! Last year, up to Loch Ness. This year we were planning on going southwards! All cancelled. (My bike, 2003 T100 Bonneville gets all the admiring looks! Brothers bike, 2020 Triumph street Triple doesn't get a look in!) Anyway, had a chance today to look at fault on bike. Now, I dont have to run it that long before the engine cuts out which makes it easier to fault find. (Its difficult to fault find an intermittent fault when its not there!!) Armed with pin-outs on ignition module I found the fault to be...... ....Ignition Pick-Up Coil!!! This was the very first item I replaced but subsequently, It had just never occurred to me that the new item could be faulty! Anyway, another replacement ordered (from a different shop!) & hopefully fitted early next week. I will let you know if its all good & i will get some photos of my bike on here. Bloody hell, you've certainly got strength to have had to help your wife deal with that very unfortunate events to say the least. Posting on a forum really does take a back seat, to what you've been dealing with. Let's hope for better times ahead for you, and your wife.
