Not up north we don’t. I think it’s a midlands (southern) saying. We just use Eyup.

Sheffield is in Yorkshire. Manchester isn’t. It’s in what is really Lancashire. Hence them being Lancs.

    I see.

It confused me (easily done) because you said they're lancs. Were as you know Sheffield isnt and Manchester is in the "Historical" Lancs.. But not the up-to date Lanc's. It more of a metropolitan city now all of its own now. Living in the past was maybe holding them back.

So th other confusion for me is when you say... Not up north we don’t. I think it’s a midlands (southern) saying. We just use Eyup.

Im thinking were do you put this north south divide. Yorkshire is quite southern and as i said before is a big place. Especially if you come from Staithes..

So Eyup duck or what ever you hold dear as a greeting might be just regional rather than a county...Just a thought.

So did Coronation street use eyup duck or is that to southerly for them.???

Having never seen coronation street (I don’t watch much telly) or any other soap operas I don’t know if they use duck. It’s certainly not used in my area of Yorkshire. I’ve heard it used down south, Birmingham area I think.

My old boxer dog used to know the first note of the theme tune. He got up and stood by the back door as he knew we were going for a walk, didn’t matter what the weather was like.
I think Lancs would be more likely to use cock than duck as a term of affection so you’re probably correct.

Eyup and another late welcome from Holmfirth!
Ducky is Nottinghamshire talk!! I know that as I had a customer there and continually repeated that word till I got sick of it.
