After the appalling weather yesterday today has been dry all day and I was able to get out and have my first decent ride on my new Speed 400. From home, through Taunton and then up onto Exmoor to Dunkery Beacon, the highest point, then down to Porlock village and up Porlock Hill (1 in 4 in places), Then along the coast road and I stopped in Lynmouth for coffee
Out of Lynmouth and onto Blackmoor Gate, South Milton and because I was running out of time I returned home along the North Devon Link Road to Tiverton before returning home on the M5.

Although the Speed 400 is not really at home on the motorway I was pleasantly surprised at how well it coped with running at 65 - 70 mph for a couple of junctions. All in all a very pleasant afternoon covering 135 miles and getting well on the way to the first service!!

Congrats on your new Speed 400, @Samsgrandad! It sounds like you're well pleased with it. BTW, it's nice to see you on the forum again. Seems you've been away for awhile. Hope all is well with you!

    Hi Sandi,
Many thanks for your thoughts. I have been lurking on the forum but not posting very often. I have now bought another Triumph, the Speed 400 and feel I can take a more active part in the forum again!

You are right I am liking the Speed 400 I have only got about 400 miles on it so far. It suits my advancing years (76) and stumpy legs as it is so light and easy to handle. Surprisingly the performance is very good for a little bike of only 400cc
