I know that at the first oil change 500mls....we are told to put the correct type of Castrol 10w/40 semi or fully synthetic. But does anybody know for sure what the factory put in our engines.....I am talking for engines 2018/19/20 ect Dont guess please. It been said Triumph may have put a running in or break in oil in these engines....a mono grade mineral oil perhaps. Anybody know for sure?
I have heard to newer bikes have a triumph brand oil.....no longer Castrol???? So could be different policy to when my 2020 T100 was built.
Sorry. Given you're talking about a four year old bike l don't see why you're interested in running in oil. Forgive me if this constitutes a guess, but l always use Silkolene semi synth Super 4 10W/40. Got one bike over 100k, gives good gearchanging, currently using it in my Bonneville. Triumph oil? Just rebadged from whoever is giving them the best deal. They've "recommended" a variety of oils over the years
Yes I know all that..... But there is a very good reason to know what oil the factory put in these engines at the factory.
From new Triumph motorcycles used to come filled with Castrol Power 1 10w40 full synthetic. They now come with Triumph's own branded 10w40 full synthetic which is supplied by Castrol, it's the same oil. Straight 30 mineral oil went out with side valve engines!! Running in oil is of no use for modern ultra close tolerance engines, it could even be harmful.
Hi there....would you be able to tell me how you know that the bikes come with that oil from the factory?
Thanks thats interesting....seems they have ditched Castrol.....I see also Triumph have ditched the 1st oil change at 500miles.....its now at 1 year. Wonder why.
