Bar End Mirror install issues.

Hey guys.
My bike is a 2014 Thruxton.
Just purchased these bar end mirrors with bar end adapters that were reco'd for them. They look great.

Problem is after taking the old mirrors off I noticed that there was a metal insert blocking the inside where the old mirror attached to.
2 things -
1. the adapter will not actually fit in to the bar with this piece in there.
2. even if it would fit inside, the metal insert is too shallow for the adapter that I purchased.

I'm looking for recommendations on how to proceed. Is there someway to remove that piece? Are there other adapters that would fit inside the bar as is and still work with the CRG mirrors? Thought I'd try here first.

No. It's threading for the old mirror. I tried to put the original bolt in and pull it with a wrench but there is no give.

I don't think so. There is no give. I'm not in front of my bike right now otherwise I'd double check... I'm wasting away at my desk job.

 

Did you just push the stuck one further down the pipe? Also is the edging around the bar part of that metal piece? Thanks for your reply.

 

Any tips for it not to get stuck? Also is the edging in the photo I posted part of that? Does it come out separately once you knock on the big piece further in?

 

Without putting the bar end adapter in? The problem I'm having is the adapters aren't fitting into the bar because of the metal edging around the interior of the bar. I assume this is part of the bigger piece at the back but I'm not positive. See attached image.

 

Do you know what bar end adapters he used? I have the 1inch and the won't squeeze into the bar with the edging that I assume is attached to the metal piece with the the thread further back in the bar. See attatched.

Yes. For sure. Thanks. Not a silly question. I believe that the piece in the handlebar that the original mirror was threaded to has an edging that is making the interior diameter of the bar smaller.

 

OK fellas. Just heard from the good people at British Customs - Great support btw.
The person on the original Live Chat when I asked what adapters I needed sold me the wrong ones. Sh!t happens.
Just talked to another guy and he said I needed these

No need to remove or tap out the original threading.
I appreciate all of you guys trying to help. Seems like a great community. I'll post pics of my Thruxton when I'm done everything. It's looking great.
