Well on this day of all days, it important to remember all the heroes that did what they did all them years ago. NEVER FORGET. Our local knitters haven't.

These knitters have some amazing talent

We couldn't do this over here. The end result would look like R2D2 wearing a silly hat.

Took about a hundred mile, give or take, round trip today to Manahawkin, NJ (Downa' Shore as we say here in Jersey). HOT! Temps in the mid-nineties. Visited the Mud City Crab House for lunch. I had the fried oysters. Took the back roads home and stopped for a soda at Hot Diggity Dog in Chatsworth, NJ. The place has been there forever (at least thirty years) and is a well-known stop headed to or from the Shore the back way. The owner, who was a dish in her day, used to work the stand in a bikini. I was riding with three other retired cops, Gary, former chief in Maple Shade, NJ and Rich and Doris who worked in Cherry Hill, NJ. All on big Harley Baggers. Miss Maggie was not intimidated in the least.

Looks like a fun day out, @Fork Lock! I love that Mud City sign. I'll have to keep my eye out to see if they have Hanks around in Arizona somewhere. Miss Maggie was in good company. No need for her to feel intimidated… some Harleys are quite congenial. ;)

Rode down to Sea Isle City, NJ for my daughter's regular Monday night gig. Listened a bit, had some dinner, (burger, fries and a couple Coors Lights, rode home. 90-mile round trip. The newly rebuilt seat does help. Not nearly as painful as this ride used to be (or any ride over 40-50 miles for that matter). However, it still not exactly cushy. Guess I'll just have to get tough or get used to it. Parking is now a breeze with the ParkMobile system. No more digging for change to shove into a parking meter. If you are not familiar with the system, it's great. Many towns have gone to this. Parking meters are gone. All parking spaces are numbered and sectioned into zones. You get the ParkMobile app on your phone, punch in the parking space number and zone and pay by PayPal or credit/debit card. You get an email receipt. Easy.
I don't know what people without a mobile phone do.

I met the wife and MiL at Seaways for a spot of lunch. They were in the car and I was on the 765 as it was such a nice day, light wind yet still up in the 20's so I'd say just right.
We were coming from opposite directions then splitting again so I took myself off through the lanes, lots of gravel about so beware. Very peaceful and hardly any traffic once off the "A" roads.
    Look at those skies?

Sat watching the world go by in the above picture, no rush and not going anywhere really :)
A quick trawl on my phone, deciding where to go next, and

Forget the calories :imp:, double scoop waffle cone. Toffee top and black cherry lower :yum
This is in the center of Pocklington and regularly has a half dozen plus of flavours.

Now this one is a bit of a rideout so I'll split it into a few posts.

Woke up at 06.30 so the day was off to a good start

    .....

    .....

......then woke up again  and it's 09.00, oh bugger and I wanted to be off early as I've a few ideas for today :confounded:

    20240719_094232.jpg

Anyway 09.30 I'm on the road and going.
Google maps on quadlock is saying 153 miles to first idea.

Obviously my write ups wouldn't be complete without food would they:yum

Cheese and ham toasted panini with fresh coleslaw and crisps plus a latte.

This is now around 13.00 so breakfast and lunch really.

And I wonder what it looks like from the other side?

The previous post picture, was taken directly above the mirror on the other bank. It doesn't look it, but there's a fair bit of water between them.

From there I went north after a fill up at Barrow in Furness.
With a stop at Tarn Bay for a drink of water and some jelly beans from the tankbag ;) Bagster on a universal bra works well.

Seascale in the distance looking north.

    This is looking south.
    20240719_160928.jpg

Edit: I think the red sheen on the right of the pic is a suicidal fly smear on the lense and definitely not dark clouds, not today. The lense had to be changed once as, can you believe it, one of my riding buddies chipped it with a flicked up stone :confounded:

The phone sits the other way around on the StreetTwin so is more protected.

And eventually I arrive back..... just 362 miles and two tankfulls of juice although desperately needing another, note the range left :joy:
Fantastic weather, 22⁰C most of the day and ironically warmed up into the evening on the way home, 24 on the dash.

Great roads and even a '23 plate mt10 got a shock how fast a 765 is over 10,000 rpm

Oh and for those interested, Italian Pinot Grigot  cheers.

What a delightful wandering, wondering ride, @Eldon! Thanks for sharing it with us. And, for the record, I've never seen my range at ZERO! :scream:

Twice in two days I've seen zero range :joy:

I know I can go MINUS three miles as that has happened before ( I reset the second trip at 1 mile range to keep an eye on it).

The 765 gen 1 is quite accurate on the fuel gauge with a nice bit of " unseen" reserve capacity.
On the previous trip with the ice cream, I was late getting to Seaways for dinner so pushed the fuel to avoid further delay.
With a trip indicating a now MINUS TWO MILE RANGE the theoretical 17 litre tank only accepted 14.5 litres. In essence there is a touch more spare, on paper , but being injection there's a fair bit running around the system pressurised so maybe not worth the risk, plus the chance of dragging up any present and inevitable detritus.
