Well, @Eldon. I did a bit of research yesterday while riding home from my Harley dealership to answer your question about our ethanol percentages here. Actually, it wasn't really research. I just remembered to look at the pump and take a photo. Anyway, the jury is still out as the pump indicates that the gasoline I pumped "may contain up to 10% ethanol". So I guess it could contain less but wouldn't contain more. But I laughed out loud when I read the small print underneath the ethanol notice. Check it out. :joy::joy::joy:

I'll bet they're some big queues at your petrol station, especially if you take time to read that lot. :joy::joy:
Good job they tell you it's not suitable for aircraft engines, be a bit dodgy landing one of those at a petrol station.

Good eye, @Bikerman. I noticed that at the bottom of the photo, too. Somehow I think there must be lawyers involved. ;):joy:

A bit like this one @Sandi T noticed by my youngest the other week when we were repairing a chainsaw.
Now that is slow revving

At last, a warm sunny day, so I headed off with the intention of riding the single track road through Glen Fruin to see the submarines at Gare Loch.... the road was closed halfway along, just where the Ministry of Defence training area is - army manoeuvres? - so I turned back to Duck Bay on Loch Lomond.

A great spot to enjoy a bit of lunch!

Today, being near the beginning of July, I decided to put the 765rs back on the road and taxed it, after cancelling the 675 tax at the end of June

Isn't it funny how the government can instantly take your road tax money via card, yet send you, by post, an antiquated cheque for you to mess about with and consequently further delay any refund?
I tried two of my accounts apps to cash it and neither are currently functional, so had a walk to the post office. They then post it off  to Santander (bank) for them to eventually process and cash it :( , anyway I digress.

Jordans, as in the motorcycle shop, was celebrating 25 years today and as it's quite local I thought I'd go and take a look at what bikes etc were on offer.
I thought this had a strange, not seen it before, colour scheme, but I quite liked it.

    Here she is,

    20240706_135243.jpg

It's like getting back with a previous girlfriend and on good terms :yum
She's familiar, everything just fits and works, plus she's a nice ride :joy:

The 765 is a great bike, I haven't ridden this one, other than to the mot station, for over 8 months.
After the StreetTwin the front brake was a bit too keenly applied initially :confounded:
The engine is a peach as it just keeps revving :imp:

Jordans had quite a selection of bikes but for me this one stood out.
A lovely example and well prepped up.

I test rode one of these before I purchased my 765 and liked it, great mid range with a top end hit but the lower mass of the 765 won me over.

Jordans had organised a stunt show and catering van outside, so I ordered a coffee and took residence for the next showing.

Great pics! Fascinated by such riding. My dual sport riding would benefit hugely from a little less hesitancy and courage...but then I may also end up broken, which would be bad.

Confidence plays a massive part but repetitive practice creates success.

    Remember the old adage;
An amateur practices until he/she can do it right.
A professional practices until he/she CAN'T do it wrong!

If you watch Toni Bou for example, yes he does occasionally get it wrong, but everyone is very surprised when he does.

Why don't you try any technical bits with a minder, or alternatively a photographer ( stop laughing and no not for the cock up clips :joy:) ?
I've found having a video to review helps no end and what you/I thinking we were doing i.e. leaning back excessively, suddenly becomes obvious that you aren't exaggerating it enough.
Subtle things like ground pressure or body position can soon be picked up on.

I like that adage. My son rips his back wheel around in ways I'd be dropping my bike in seconds trying to do. But I'm still having a little fun on backroads. A deputy sheriff drove up last time we were out riding on some country dirt roads and said someone had complained we were "out here tearing up the road." At that time it was me on my Yamaha XT250 and my demure 15-yo daughter on her little Honda XR100. I just looked at him and said, "Seriously? Me? Us?" He laughed and shook his head, explaining, "Some people just like to have something to complain about." and drove on. No, I'm not doing any donuts, brake slides, or drifting. I do like to the idea of photos so I can see what dumb things I'm doing:p.

Photos are good but video with sound is better. Throttle control is a fine art and full throttle at the right time gets grip ( subject to ground pressure loading) and gives launch.
Big throttle at the wrong time just produces wheelspin and crashes due to lack of momentum or unexpected imbalance ( less forward progress than the rider).

Here's me messing about in the garden a few years ago @Martine . Obviously it was a video but not sure how you can upload here without a youtube channel etc.
Note the body lean to balance the bike, subtle throttle control and applying the back brake steadies the bike.

When I got my first TY250 in 1986 I used to have great fun in some local woodland, plenty of wet logs, gulleys and a couple of streams to hone your skills/send you flying! That was pre NERC act and the clampdown on such activities, when nobody was bothered, not even walkers in the woods and before the explosion in illegal, off road riding by knobheads on stolen motorcross bikes.

Plus the loss of vast tracts of NCB mining land, slagheaps etc.
Some land where I used to go in the 80's, is now a nature reserve so they're highly unlikely to accept someone ripping up the grass and poisoning the stream with oil ribbons : unamused:

This video (sorry if it appears not right) of the TY250 is from a long time before 1986 (it's 1973) and looks amazing. I definitely don't have the body control of the rider in this video and like @Eldon was showing in his pics! Maybe you @Pegscraper did (or do) on your TY250, but starting the offroad stuff when I was 52 (instead of 9 like my handsome husband) may have something to do with my less adventuresome approacho_O. And finding places to ride isn't what it used to be here either, so I'm told.
And sorry to all for having taken us off the "What you been doing with your TRIUMPH today??" topic! I'll stop now.

I did a tubeless conversion for my Tiger 800 XC today together with a friend.
I got an Outex-Kit for the bike and so far everything went great. Now I just have to wait wether the tires hold the pressure.
But the kit is nicely done.
We want to make a little tour over the weekend and I have to check for the pressures - keeping my fingers crossed that the conversion went well.
