Thruxton R Vibration?

I've done a couple of hundred miles since I got the bike and I must say I haven't experienced the buzzy bars since, certainly haven't had the tingly hands after a ride like I did on the test ride. Its very odd.

 

Hi wag, this must be so annoying for you! I know it's simple and obvious but have you had a good look at the tyres for anything stuck in them. Does it go away if you pull the brake in lightly? Could it be the pads sticking a bit.

 

Mornin' i'm a car mech ( of old)so am not clutching at straws. I mailed triumph, they replied about it being a firm ride etc. Im trying to make sure i aint meing too poncy as well but as i say , it is never smooth. Thanks , ill check the tyres. I certainly notice my weight being on the bars more so i can feel the engine thumping. Slightly fatter grips might help ! Cheers, i dont want to appear a whinger .

 

Try "Grip Puppies " or similar.

Hi wag, have you tried another test ride on an R for comparison? Or contact pottsy, he has one and lives in Plymouth maybe he could have a ride on it and give you his opinion.

 

Steering head bearings aren't out of adjustment perhaps?

 

Well, I rode to Poole from Newbury last night, went via Salisbury and Blandford there then M27 A34 home. On the M27 and A34 at about 90/95 I definately got a buzzing through the grips. I released the grip on the left hand and could feel it even more as if the bars were vibrating against my gloves if you get my rather shit description. Maybe its just a speed and road surface combination thing, because on the A roads going down to Poole and every other time I ridden it on non motorways its been fine?

 

Soz , I missed the replies , I fitted some spongy grips which help. I went on a longer faster trip last night and it was better but still more going on than i'd like. I can definitely feel the firing in the bars, as well as the road, yet I can easily push the forks up and down at a standstill. I would hope its not the head bearings this early and I cant feel anything. Thanks Crispey, I've got my service in a week or 2 , I might try the demo again . I also have a W800 which is more of a blancmange so maybe that's tainting things ! chuckle (Lol for any youngsters)

 

Hi guys
Got the new dual seat on the bike and taken Nikki out for about an hour and a half and she loves the ride and seat but I have vibration issues and two numb hands the right one is the worse. Had the problem solo but it is worse two up, so this points to seating positon, will see when shocks are adjusted to see if this changing the angle slightly. Has anyone changed grips and or gloves yet?

 

Nikki wasn't leaning on you was she? Putting extra pressure on the wrists?

 

Both, foam bike-it grips from Trago and I'm trying some old gloves with soft palms .\Both work but my hands are cooking.

 

I think she must have been a bit.

 

Good old Trago, Iam looking at getting some gel palms stitched into my summer gloves but can't find a soft gel supplier, but working on it.

 

Can you rotate the bars so they are more upright on the Thruxton r? I can flip them on mine to make them more Bonnie like which would make the ride position more upright

 

Iam not too sure, but I don't think so, I will take a look when I get home.

Yes thats more the sort of set up.

 

Might be worth checking the tyre pressures. Or experimenting with a couple of psi more or less than recommended.

 

i didnt notice any undue vibration on the test ride afternoon, saying that i'm coming from a ducati which was quite bad.
