Hi folks, I'm trying to sell my 2000 Legend TT Deluxe. It's a nice bike, in Imperial Green / Silver, with 16k on the clock, and it runs beautifully. However I need to create space in my garage for an imminent new arrival - a Tiger Sport 660. I've posted an advert in this forum, and one on the TOMCC website, also put an ad on Gumtree and on eBay. I offered it as a P/X to the dealer from whom I'm buying the Tiger Sport 660 but he wasn't interested at all, he said it was too specialised a bike for him to even make me an offer. I had one guy respond to the Gumtree ad, he came and looked at the bike but told me it wasn't for him, he later told me he ended up buying a Sprint GT 1050 instead. Very different bike! It's currently advertised for £3,395 ONO, though I've just reduced it on eBay to £3,195 and I'll do the same elsewhere. My question is - do any of you knowledgeable folk out there know of any better way to sell my bike? Are there any dealers in the UK who specialise in such models? Or should I just accept that the market for the Legend is very limited and it may take me ages to sell it, and I might not get a sale at a reasonable price at all.
I sold mine on Facebook Marketplace but it may be that you need to be a bit more specialised, although that might cost for the advert. MCN or Autotrader would probably be a better place to reach people who may be looking for a specific bike
Thanks for the advice. So far I've had 3 enquiries via eBay, one was obviously a scam so I blocked that one, one was interested but they are too busy at the moment to come and view the bike, and the third one wants to do an HPI check (a sensible precaution) before going any further. So I think I'll try Autotrader if it doesn't sell via eBay.
If you were stateside I'd be making room for it in our garage! That was the bike that made me look at Triumphs back in 1998. It was the first Triumph I rode (dealership test ride on a green one) and fell in love.
Can't see the problem with selling @ that price. I take it the dealer was not a Triumph dealer as that bike is perfect and suits both male and female riders and is a sweet machine well a thunderbird slimmed down. @joe mc donald
