Hello folks, I recently bought a Triumph Speed 400 to replace a 30,000 mile Honda CB500X. I'd had it for 7 years, so I needed a change, and a slight downsize isn't a bad thing as the years go on!!
Thanks for all the welcomes..... I wish it would stop raining, so I could get out on the new bike! I know, I shouldn't let the weather stop me, but I'm a bit of a fair weather rider. And I just cleaned and polished it!!
Hi ajc400, you'll enjoy the bike, that engine is a peach! I have the (faster) blue one and am loving it. I'm in the process of doing some fine adjustments but nothing major. I'll post when they are done. Hope you don't get the (immobiliser light) software fault that many seem to have. But it's not a game changer. Going for its first service this week so I'll update as necessary. Regards Ian
I was always told red was faster! I had the engine management light on for a few miles but it went off again and has stayed away since. Dealer will do software update at service if it's needed. Loving the bike, trying to take it easy for these first miles is hard though!
Well, that's the last few miles on the bike before its 600mile service tomorrow..... and yes, the engine management light came back on! They have a few niggly little things to look at, and then I'll be ready for some proper ride-outs.
Apparently they have released this bike with a known software fault that brings up the engine management light but are not informing customers They tried a software upgrade but apparently this has made it worse. I know this because one of our local bike schools bought 2 and has just returned them for this issue and gone for MT03's instead as they can't present to a test centre with an engine management light showing
Yes, a bit naughty, we'll see what happens tomorrow. Hopefully it is the only hidden snag, although being built in India.......
Service complete, software update done, bike running perfectly and no warning lights. Now to get a few proper miles on the clock.
