    And back to Hawick ( pronounced Hoik).

    There's a good army surplus store there, good gear, cheap prices.
    Website nothing special but here it is;

    I needed a new " Rocket pouch" yes really :cool: as my zip had broken and I use it regularly :skull:

    £25 and sorted :cool::blush:

    Yes :rolleyes: once when the shops were shut and another, in the same day, when they were open :joy:
    I intended to go west but wanted to do a slightly eastern loop.

    "Hoik" is well worth a visit as the people are very welcoming and it has quite a few motorcycling connections.

    Previously, I rode my bike through the park to take a picture at the various monuments and no-one batted an eyelid, in fact they all said hello or morning.

    Here's a picture puzzle of last night's camp spot, and I know some of you will know where it is.

    Where's this?

    Then onwards saturday morning, down this valley.
    Nice sweeping bends got me going :cool: but then, on one quick open lefthander I hit a patch of something and both wheels let go, a proper ar5e twitch moment o_O:eek:
    I went back to check what it was and the patch of loose gravel was smack on the apex between the two car tracks i.e. exactly wrong place for a well positioned bike line.

    This calmed things down quiet a bit, which was lucky, as a few miles further on the road is in shocking condition. One pothole I saw, looked to be about 600mm in diameter, and with water in it, so no idea how deep it was.

    A few miles further and with googlemaps showing the way, the fuel light came on.
    A quick stop and tap of the screen showed a local fuel stop.
    Ok slight detour then back to it.

    :joy: you're having a laugh right?

    Another tap of googlemaps and 3.3 mile away is another filling station. That was a 24hr card only style unit but saved 17 pence a litre and not even off route :cool::blush:

    After fuel I did some proper little lanes meandering roughly in a homeward direction.

    Beautiful weather, not too hot, but definitely warm enough, and such blue skies :heart_eyes:

    Nice one @Eldon I always enjoy driving through ther Borders on my way further north (recently back from Harris & Lewis) must get my shit together and sort out a similar trip to yours. Coming back to Hawick, I installed a machine there many years ago. Main thing I remember was the ridiculous breakfast they gave me on the Sunday morning. Feckin plate like a car wheel, it was colossal. I was barely conscious once I'd finished! :grinning:

    @MightyBoosh are you planning on doing a write up on Harris and Lewis?

    Been there myself a few years ago and plan to go back at some point, great place.

    I always find Hawick an interesting place and each visit I find more, one of those, the more you look, the more you see, sort of thing.

    No mate. For one, it was a car trip so not so interesting for folk here, but mainly, I can't be arsed with having to store images online in order to post them here. Too much bother.....but as you say, a great place to visit. We were blown away by it. Like you we were blesed with the weather and then Calmac buggered us with a ferry cancellation, but long story short they paid for the required extra accommodation while we waited for a crossing, so three extra days. Perhaps there is a God :cool:

    What do you mean by " having to store pictures online"?
    There is a max file size but you can deposit direct off your phone. I find the easiest way around if too big is to do a screenshot which reduces it ;)

    Finally! A bit flakey but success. Nice view of Seilebost beach from the café, and my son, partner and papoose halfway down the Scriob, or slide. This is part of the Postman's walk to Rhenigidale, so called because the postie did it three times a week-both ways :eek:. They finally put a road in to save his legs, but not until 1989. There was a minke whale swimming in the sound below us...
