I'm looking forward to taking delivery of a T120 soon and plan to commute to work with it. Although it doesn't do wonders to its classic good looks, a top box is very convenient for around town. Does anyone know if a T100 top box mount would fit the newer T120? There is a top box listed in Triumph's website but the dealer tells me that, having spoken to Triumph, it is in fact a mistake and there is no top box available for the T120. Also Givi do not yet seem to be producing one for the T120...
There might be delays in finding a top box from Triumph but an aftermarket manufacturer such as GIVI will certainly be able to provide you with one. Bare in mind that it is only the supports brackets that are bike specific, the actual top boxes fit any bike with the correct brackets. Also if you go for the likes of GIVI, they will have a range of sizes and designs to suit your preferences. http://www.givi.co.uk/products/cases
Welcome to the forum. Agree with biglad, whilst there may be no specific top boxes listed for the T120, GIVI top boxes use a universal base plate with their mono-lock system. These are adjustable and should fit any rear rack - assuming you can get one for the T120.
I have a T 120 Bonneville with 1800 miles on the clock, fitted a Triumph top box,it takes a Schuberth open face helmet plus gloves etc.To me it looks like a Givi product with a Triumph sticker on. Its not big but looks good on my bike.
Do triumph do a rear carrier for it? If so do as I have done , universal plate and attach that. My decision was to go with a Kappa 48 L box on the Thunderbird. Agree that it doesn't do anything for the way the bike looks but the practability .......
Did you obtain the top box direct from Triumph? Because my dealer told me Triumph don't do one for the T120.
Yes Triumph do a luggage rack. Do you find the universal plate to be secure, is it not too trivial for a theif to remove? Fantastic looking bike btw, the top box looks fine with your setup.
Not had any problems with it at all. Using the universal plate also gives me the option to take the top box off and put the sissy bar back on for those times I don't need it on. As to getting the plate off all they will get is a pretty much empty tox box unless I'm loaded up. All that is in it on a day to day basis is a cargo net, soft ground puck ( for the side stand). It makes A great place to put my helmet when I stop as well. The tob box is more secure than the panniers , so on a long trip that's where the likes of any valuables go. Such as my iPad. Also tend to put my chain and disc lock in there ( I don't carry the chain all the time). The tob box just comes down to practability for me. It's dry and more secure than most alternatives. Also able to carry some more shopping if needed.
Yes, Triumph do supply top box and carrier with plate, my dealer fitted carrier/top box for me,looks smart.
Many thanks, communicated this to the dealer who promptly ordered the top box. You would think they would be better informed...
