    Hi Folks

Looking for some info re: T140E , I've been out of the saddle for a few years now but am considering a classic as an occasional ride out/investment. I'm not looking to make huge profits but would like to buy with a view to recouping my outlay in a few years when my faculties begin to fail.

I have in mind a T140E, can anyone advise if certain mods may devalue a bike of this sort, such as primary belt conversion and hardened valve seats, they seem to offer better reliability but would hate to find them costing more in depreciation?

Hi Gaffer, welcome in etc. Just about any classic piece of Brit Iron is an investment option. Check out some of the on-line dealers to have a peep at what they charge. Obviously if it looks good, is road worthy and runs smoothly the bigger the return, but you may have to wait a few years. Things like Vincent's, Bonnies, Gold Stars, Commando's etc command higher prices so if you can your hands on one keep it nice and warm and dry and treat it to plenty of TLC.

Thanks for that, just wondered if I was better going for an unmodified bike, not too technically minded!

If you're looking for an investment, unmodified is best. So if modified take it back to originally iif you can afford it.

Hey Gaffer are you an ex-matelot as your avatar suggests? not that I hold it against you in any way.
Just to back up Dozers Dads comment, Norman Hyde do some pretty good bits and pieces for the Trumpet but they tend to be for newer models so I'm not sure what they can do for the golden oldies

Yup, I've got one or two useful bits from NH. As you say not the cheapest bits around but there is the 'name' and the quality factor.
