Not new to motorcycles but maybe new to Triumphs. I’m looking at a 2009 Speed Triple with 65,000km on it, it’s a well maintained bike but is there anything I should be looking out for? Common issues?

Hi and welcome, 65,000km (or 40k miles) is quite high mileage for a motorcycle. I would be looking for the full documentation of the service history before considering the purchase.

It’s got full service records and I’ve had multiple Yamaha’s with 100k and no issues. Is there anything particular to look out for?

I would check that it starts without hesitation and no nasty noises from the sprag clutch (starter clutch). Also check the rear wheel bearing for smooth operation and no movement when you try to rock the wheel (it's important that the needle roller bearing is regreased every 12000 miles in accordance with the maintenance schedule). Also the chain adjuster hub is prone to seizing up and the wiring is prone to rubbing and fraying where it passes the right hand side of the headstock.

Thank you! The rear axle was recently rebuilt, valves recently done. I’ll make sure it sounds healthy and check for fraying wires!

Small world indeed. Where in London, did you live ?, I was born in Highbury, a long stones throw away from Arsenal.
I don't know if your still in contact with the outlaws, but they might have seen a new sign advertising the famous Skegness. Here's my bike at said sign.

:eek: Eaton House, Leigh Road just off Highbury Barn.
My dad used to take me to all the home games, now I couldn't tell you more that 2 or 3 of the team now, just lost interest really.

    Welcome to this forum!

Check the cam chain tensioner, electrical components, suspension, brakes, engine, and transmission. Verify service history. Consider mechanic inspection.

Also take a look at the front forks to ensure that the are not leaking or have recently been rebuilt.

My 2011 Sprint GT has 42k miles (67k kms), and runs great! A recent valve adjustment and fork rebuild will keep it that way for a long time, I hope.
