Don't know if this has already been flagged up but the government has just released details of it's long-overdue national survey on access to ALL bus lanes by motorcycles. We have until early June to respond, so we ALL need to have our say ASAP. You can find the survey on: www.gov.uk/consultations/motorcyclists-in-bus-lanes

WARNING: Read Q20 CAREFULLY. It says 'how far do you agree with local authorities being able to CHOOSE whether to allow motorcycles to use bus lanes on their networks'.
The answer is DISAGREE because we want a nationwide default policy, not individual authority policies (which we already have).

The last question Q30 (btw there aren't 30 questions) asks for comments. The government are looking at allowing access to bus lanes 'with flow' and 'contra-flow' but we also need to have access through bus gates and other traffic filters, so mention this.

It's for YOUR benefit so get it filled in.

Thanks, and nice that you pointed out the intricacy of Q20 etc.
I've found previously that some of these surveys are worded in such awkward ways as if the intention is to catch out the unwary.

I'm also wary of "who paid for the survey gets the answer they want" to suit an already derived agenda.

So far it looks like only Eldon is interested in this, surely he can't be the only one?

As posted by Bikerman in the MAG news section, Colin Brown has made a very helpful 10 minute video on how to fill in the consultation with links to the consultation and other guidance in the description. There are only questions 11-18 to complete and the Q20 mentioned above is actually Q11 I believe.

You're right. It's not the full link . I blame the Russians. Although it could be down to my IT incompetence (but more likely the Russians ).

I guessed Bikerman would post the full MAG article but I wanted to flag it up elsewhere because I'm sure some people ignore the MAG news section and would therefore not be aware.
Interesting that you say Q20 is actually Q11. In the document I got from the government website there was no Q11.

    Must be the Russians again.

Just watched the Colin Brown vid. Very useful, Colin is a great ambassador for MAG. He highlights several questions on the document, which were the only ones that came up on the document I filled in. Possibly after I had answered 'No' to QU.3 Are you responding on behalf of an organisation? it skipped to QU.20. But I don't know for sure. Whatever, the completed document was accepted with no indication that I'd missed out questions.

The survey is now down to 12 questions. The question about councils choosing is #4.

Maybe they're not getting the answers they want so they've cut it down to the trick questions.

Now that's a very cynical attitude, as if any government department would do such a thing!
