Hi All--Eric here. I just bought a 2000 RS a few weeks ago and it seems to be a great bike. I got a good deal a $2K--it has 65Kmi on it. I had a few questions.

First, on the top left of the cluster is a light that flashes when the bike it at idle, and stays on all the time when riding. In the Owners manual there is no mention of it. The dealer I bought it from said it was the alternator light. My research says that its the alarm system accessory some one installed. If it is , I do not have the key fob. Can anyone shed a light on it.

Second, I;m having difficulty with finding neutral when riding. Is that common, and I just need to get used to it, or is it a sign of a bigger issue? Can it be adjusted somehow?

Third, the fuel light stays on all the time. I picked up a good used sending unit. Is that usually the fix for this issue, or is it more complicated. I haven't installed it yet.

    Thanks!

Look under the seat, if there is a part like this the alarm has been deactivated.

Is the clutch cable adjusted correctly , not too much slack, think it should be about 2mm.

Too tight or too loose chain can make gears hard to change , adjust at the tightest point of the chain, check manual but think about 30mm or so.
Oil can also make a big difference , may need a change, some say motul others silkolene but you won't know what is in there already.

The fuel light sender is quite common but sometimes just brimming the tank and riding can free the float in the sender. However I'm sure you won't want a full tank if you're planning on changing the part. Catch 22 I guess.

I have a 2011 Sprint GT with 42k on the clock. I occasionally find it difficult to find Neutral, and it seems to be random, not just when the engine is cold. I use Amsoil, as it was recommended by another owner of a Triumph 3-cyl engine (Speed Triple). Not sure that it makes a difference from the Castrol I was using before (I worked for Castrol for a decade before retiring). I have adjusted the clutch and tried the oil switch, but neither has solved the issue. A little tolerance has worked fine, though.

Can't help you with the lights. They are unfamiliar to me. My ABS light stays lit until I get moving, but that's all.

Thanks sprintdave. All goo advice. I haven't looked under the seat yet--but its safe to say then, that this is the alarm and not an alternator light? I do need to change the fluids on the bike prior to the proper start of the riding season.

As far as I know there is no alternator light. Both Triumphs I have had were blessed with a little red light on the dash or fork yoke which was for an alarm.

My fuel sender on my 2016 Sprint failed last year. I blame the ethanol in the fuel corroding the rheostat gubbins. Usual ridiculous replacement part price from Triumph. They are a few quid on AliExpress and I kept the old one to see if it can be fixed. Haven't got round to it yet.
