Bar End Mirrors

Are those the originals on it at the moment?
The triumph ones are great quality. I swapped mine as they had discoloured. they look so much nicer now.

Agree re expensive but get what u pay for check out some of the chrome variants some nice shapes. I still think urs suits non bar ends.

 

This is what I put on my 900 Street twin. I knew they were fair quality as I already have a pair on my 675str.

I put some OEM peep mirrors on my T120. They provide (IMO) a far better view than the stock Mickey Mouse mirrors - I can see more than just my arms now!

Don't want to hijack the thread but I have a related question pls. Does the fact that I have Triumph heated grips in anyway interfere with or restrict bar mounted mirrors?

 

I can only speak for Triumph bar ends, but no, you shouldn't have any issue. My bar end mirrors have a 2-3mm clearance between my heated grips and the mirror bracket.

 

No - I have both on mine, albeit OEM and fitted by the dealer prior to delivery.

 

As @BritishBonnie & @learningtofly have both said, you can fit Triumph's bar end mirrors to your handlebars with their heated grips. Triumph's accessories are engineered to work together. If you undo the screw in the end of your handlebars, you will release the cap that covers the section of the handlebar that the bar end mirror clamps onto.

If you want cheaper aftermarket bar end mirrors, they may fit, possibly with the help of Triumph's friction rings that come with their mirrors. But mirrors that require fitting bungs into the ends of the handlebars won't work: Triumph's bungs are permanently fixed into the ends of their handlebars and designed to work with the wiring of Triumph's heated grips.

Welcome to the family. I have the bar end mirrors on my 660 and find them great. I have tried others but find them inferior and cheap looking.

You can go OE or aftermarket, or even mix ‘n match. When I bought these they were less than half the price they are today. But I thought it was worth the gamble for a tenner. I didn’t need the expanding plug as there is already a female, M6 I think, thread available to you once the bar ends are removed.

I wasn’t keen on the mirrors that came with them so I swapped them for the OE ones on the stalks I had just removed.

End result, I'm well pleased, as Mr Millyard would say. They are rock steady at all speeds and aesthetically pleasing.

But, I am thin on how they would be installed. See my pics of the my handlebar end: the stock end cap is 1 1/4 OD, the handlebar is 1 OD, the stock handlebar insert is 15/16OD. So, I take it that the insert would have to be removed first? How would that be done?

Lastly, I have a 2023 Bonneville T120; has anyone installed the above mirrors?

 

I must be in a minority here as I find the OEM mirrors work pretty well although I think the Street Scrambler may have slightly wider bars than others in the Bonneville range. A big negative for me with bar enders is they make the bars even wider and hence traffic filtering more awkward. Having said that I have just fitted one to my pushbike and it's a life saver!

 

i got these genuine ones for my speed twin the longer mirror face gives a better view and i think they look better

Personally I'd go onto the configurator, identify the correct OEM part number, and then seek out the best price online. At least you know they'll be properly compatible.

 

As I replied to @Traveler, the stock inserts are fixed; drilling them out is not to be recommended, it would be a one way trip that you may well end up regretting.

If you decide not to go with @struv's recommendation you may well be able to fit those mirrors that you found on eBay.

Looking at the eBay advert, the last photo shows the parts you would receive: the four black rings are spacers/adapters, designed to fill the "gap" between the outside diameter of the "bung" sticking out of the handlebar, and the inside diameter of the mirror arms where they clamp on the bars. Triumph use a similar solution to allow for their two different handlebar diameters.

So it looks to me like you would get a kit that will fit handlebars like Triumph's, with already fitted bungs of different diameters, or handlebars that do not have pre-fitted bungs.

If you want to get an idea of how it all works, go to triumphinstructions.com and type in the following accessory numbers.

A9630721 for bar end mirrors.

A9638110 for heated grips.

Download the instructions and you will see that Triumph use the same solution for almost all their bikes. As an ex engineer this makes sense; you don't waste money reinventing the wheel, unless you have to for safety or legislative reasons. For that reason don't worry if it doesn't specifically say for a 2023 T120.

If you wish to double check part numbers for the unlikely event that there has been a change, go to Triumph's model configurator for your T120, select the Bar End Mirrors and make a note of the Accessory Part Number (it almost always begins with an A) and then type that into Triumph Instructions.

Note if you fit Bar End Mirrors, the caps that you've taken off won't go back on, you'll need finisher discs with a hole in them for the screw. If you use the configurator it'll tell you that you need the finishers and give you the part number.

Personally I think @struv's suggestion is a good one, IMHO they suit the T120/T100, especially if you've fitted a touring screen and panniers.

I'm not keen on Bar End Mirrors because of the way they make filtering traffic harder by increasing the width of the bike. But my Street Cup came with them and it would look wrong without them. My solution is to use the Rocket 3 accessory alloy mirrors, with the longest part of the mirror inboard (the opposite of what Triumph expects), but in my case I can see perfectly clearly enough. I've also used the Rocket 3 finishers (expensive and over engineered for my bike but they look cool). I've posted that elsewhere in either the "what's the last thing bought thread" or the "what have you done with your Triumph today" thread.

I have gone with struv's and RevPauls suggestion and went on Ebay and bought the last new set a9638194.
I like their shape and maybe get a better view behind me.
