As I like to do sports, I treated myself to a new bike right after the turn of the year.
Again without a motor and only muscle power to move it.
As I already had several previous models, I bought the latest model.
    It is a "Streetstepper MTS27".

The required movement is similar to that of a stepper you would find in a fitness center. The mechanism converts the stepping movement into a forward movement.

The "thing" was invented by an Austrian engineer in Tyrol and is now manufactured in a professional bicycle factory in Germany.

    Some technical data:
    - 27.5 inch tires
    - 20-speed gears
    - Suspension front fork with adjustable damping
    - Disc brakes front and rear
    - Weight: 17 kg
The bike is a fully-fledged mountain bike replacement. All components apart from the stepper mechanism are standard mountain bike components and can therefore be easily replaced if necessary.

    For riding:
Riding is quite easy for beginners. After a few minutes, you have the device under control and can ride successfully on the road or off-road.
When choosing a route, you are only limited by your own fitness level. The bike copes perfectly with uphill or off-road riding.
When riding downhill, the two foot pedals move to a horizontal position at the height of the wheel hub and you can then ride the route more or less quickly depending on your courage, just like on a scooter.

    My experience:
I have already ridden numerous "extreme" tours with my previous models.
2015: With the "Streetstepper Sport" model with a 3-speed gearbox up the highest mountain in Austria, the Grossglockner. Many of my friends were convinced of my failure. I made it. 4 hours later, the mountain was conquered! I then went downhill at up to 80 km/h.
2016: Also with a "Streetstepper Sport" model from Salzburg to Grado in Italy within 3 days and a distance of +320 km.
2018: A circumnavigation of Lake Neusiedl with +120 km in a time under 6 hours with the "Streetstepper MTS26" model.

    The new model in comparison:
In principle, the entire design has been massively improved. During my first test ride, I was able to see the quality and the massive technical improvements for myself. Now I just need to improve my fitness level! :p

    Advantages:
The sports equipment is extremely easy on the back and uses many more muscle groups than any other bike. You can increase your own fitness extremely quickly.
Even if you have back problems, the use of such a bike is more suitable than normal bikes.

It's incredible fun and you get to meet lots of new people on all the routes or during breaks who ask about the bike.;)

    What no seat

Not much of a rest on the downhill sections so quite an intense workout by the looks of it.

This is our current bike without an engine, which I thought your thread @Markus was going to be about :joy:

Normally you do not really need it. The only dangerous situation may occur when you put your weight in a extreme position to the back of the bike. The the front wheel may come up. Or in the phase of a beginner when you try to sit down on the not existing seat. You get very fast an intensive temperature problem on your backside. o_O But this happens normally only once! :joy:

Isn't that the emergency brake, if all else fails nip the back tyre in your crack?:joy:

My youngest did something similar years ago leaning back on a bmx and ended up with his clothing trapped in the frame taken down with the tyre o_O

On a much lower value:joy:, here's my 1991 GT I rode to work for 30+ yrs, which I've just resurrected for shopping duties. I bought the rear "tool" box a couple of weeks ago from Wickes and just bolted it to the carrier. It should've been £27 but it was out of it's packaging, covered in dust and minus the shoulder strap and handles. I took it to the till and offered them £10. Deal!:grinning:. I made the rear carrier in 2004 to carry my laptop to work. Up to then I carried it in a backpack but came off on black ice and broke my hip so decided extra weight on my back isn't a good idea. I haven't really ridden it since retiring in 2020 and my legs have gone!!:joy: Some work to do I think!

If we stay in the medicine section you are right.;)
Also when you have problems with a prostate disease and should not bike anymore. With this kind of bike it would be possible.
