More embarrassing than that is when you kick the stand up yourself on autopilot, instantly forget you’ve done it and then go to put the bike back on its stand that’s no longer there :sob:. What sort of a goon does that though :eyes:

    Guilty as charged :confounded:

Look at bikes back in the 80's and the weight of them?
Look at the weight of them now?

Gains and improvements.......weight certainly isn't one of them in a positive direction.

Yep, done that on a Kawasaki GT 750 near the Coniston Campbell monument

Pulled up, chatted, went to put it back on it's sidestand and oh f*ck as it crashed to the floor

On a more serious note and sort of playing Devils advocate here after my previous posts.

Around 2010 or 2017 not sure which now, I was at the bottom of Brayhill IOM and got chatting to a group of older guys stood next to me watching the Manxgp.
I mentioned that in the news some poor guy had copped it in the south of the island.

It turned out the unfortunate soul had been part of their group

Talk about put your foot in it :confounded:

They'd pulled up, sidestands down, did what they did, then set off again. The guys were old and they were on old bikes, not pocket rocket modern stuff which may have actually been of benefit here.
One biker had left his sidestand ( on the left) down with the guy behind noting it but couldn't catch him and the road currently involved right hand bends.

The first left-hander he apparently met a Land Rover Discovery coming the other way!

Maybe certain modern design attributes aren't a bad idea after all o_O

I get it - old vs new; my last cycle was a 2002 Harley Road KIng - not too much electronics except for the FI and security system; gave it to my son in law in 2016 and went dormant. Got bit by the bug again in Oct, 2023 and bought the Black 120 Bonneville. Have been marveling with all of its electronics ever since - am finding I am staring at the tach and speedo too much; if it wasn't so cold in my neck of the woods, I would be riding it more (only 150 miles so far on the clock).
