I know - I haven't been so nervous in a long time. I almost wobbled over the line when starting the "u" turn manoeuvre, looked over my shoulder to see the examiner shaking with laughter - wasn't filled with confidence! Mine was taken at the old naval air station, HMS Daedalus at Lee-on-Solent - very windy!
I did mine at Burgess Hill. A town I'd never been to before my training. Ashamed to report that on my way to the test my brilliant instructor stopped me and my fellow trainee in a quiet residential road to practise a few last minute emergency stops as we had an hour to spare. Emergency stops were going fine but on paddling the bike round ready for the next attempt for some reason I'll never understand I pulled on the front brake while the front wheel was turned and needless to say me and the bike ended up in a heap in the road. I put it down to nerves I learned a very important lesson though. I'll never do that again
Wow - not a good thing to happen on your way to the test! (but don't worry, we've all dropped our bikes on here at some point).
Hi Angie Congrats on passing your test. Age doesn't come in to it. Just go for it girl, you will love it. Hope you have many happy miles on your Triumph.
Welcome in Angie, Never say never, hope you did not damage yourself or bike just your pride, well done with test, ride safe.
Welcome Angie, I passed my bike test 2 years ago at the age of 54... done 14500 mls on my Bonnie since, and heading from Scotland to Spain on it this Saturday, better late than never (should've done it years ago...!) I hated the u turn, dropped it in practice, dropped it on the first mod1 test.... I've never done a u turn since! unless the road is biggggg....
Let me explain, I was messing aboot on site personal page etc and I posted a snake signature, Now it seemed to work allthough I never ever saw that snake again, BUT you will be pleased to know I've gotten shot of it, !!!! when did you other guys see it, during posts or replies or both ? cos as stated I was never aware of it at all.
You mean Snake Pliskin? Or Solid Snake? One of my neighbours once had a snake... It went missing as well....
Monkeyjoe, your to Spain sounds very interesting indeed! You must tell us how it all goes, warts and all, we really fancy something like this ourselves just now, I'd be really interested to know how it all works out for you. Take care and enjoy every moment. Curly
I hate U-turns - for me they are either perfect (when no one else is around to see) or a foot down, wobbly stumble fest when everyone's looking!
