Scorpion Helmets

My wife and I am are using the Scorpion Evo 1400 Air since 2019. Meanwhile it is the second, because we changed it after three years due to safety reasons.
Some specific information:
I personally like the big view of the helmet. There are no other helmets on the market which come up with such a big view like the Scorpions do.
The integrated sun shield is great to. Easy to move and push back if not needed.
At our dealer we got a three years guarantee for the complete helmet with all of its additional functions. My wife once broke her guide rail of her integrated sun shield of the helmet. It was replaced without any costs in a few days by Scorpion.
The cooling system of the helmet is also very good. I used my helmet in a temperature range of 50 degree celsius (-7 up to +43) till now and was always satisfied with it.
Also in heavy rain I had no issues with them in the past.

 

They are one of the bigger helmet manufacturers over this side of the Atlantic bud and certainly seem to have a good reputation.

This bike was directly in front of me and failed to make a tight left bend. He punched through a locked 5 bar gate and forward rolled/somersaulted into the next horse paddock.
The Scorpion helmet (an all white flip front) took a severe impact about his forehead above his left eye splintering and shattering the shell; probably saved his life!

Naturally I was first on seen.
A proper paramedic and ambulance job but lived to tell the tale.

Me, personally being doubtful and having reservations on flip fronts, was actually impressed.

I have one of the prior version ADV style Scorpions, the EVO AT-950, as well as a conventional full face (forget the model number). They are very nice helmets, especially for the reasonable prices they fetch compared to other premium brands. The interiors of the Scorpions are actually nicer and more plush than my Shoei Neotec, which is my regular touring modular helmet.

If I’m riding a bike with any kind of windscreen I have to remove the beak visor, as it causes too much buffeting. I can only use it when riding a dual sport with no windscreen. It’s mostly an ADV style thing anyway as it doesn’t do much of anything functionally. This is actually true of all of the ADV style helmets with beaks (I’ve owned several others). Being able to remove the beak and put the two blanks over the sides is a big plus IMO.

Also, once you get used to the convenience of a flip-up modular helmet it’s tough going back.

The only negative about the Scorpions is their face shields have an anti-fog coating that only works so-so in cold weather and you’ll have to crack it open to clear breathing fog. Pin-lock system shields work much better that the coating, but are pretty expensive. I’ve got one in my Shoei, but have never checked to see if they can be found to fit the Scorpions.

 

In the actual Scorpions the pin-lock systems are originally present when you by it. In my helmet it is working great.

 

This is a visor insert system that creates a double glazing type effect to reduce misting on the inside in colder weather from your breathing. The secondary panel is held in place by a pin on the inside of the visor on each side.

 

Had the same mod helmet (950) for quite a few years, until I was in an accident this summer (low speed, driver didn't see me and t-boned me). I had the dark shield for the summer, and a Pin-Lock shield + breath box kit for the spring/winter. Was very happy with that set up.
