I have actually seen a custom bike with this set up on a conventional swingarm. It took me a while to work out where the rear brake was as the caliper was so well hidden.

Great engineering whoever did it but, as is here, how do you lubricate the chain without doing the same to the rear pads?

Me hiding bag of tortilla chips: "It seems there's been a misunderstanding."

 

I read that it was intended for show bikes that were not ridden much, to have the clean look on the other side (though my pic hardly looks like a show bike lol). The other bike with no spokes is polycarbonate (if you look at the ground, you can see it's just slightly blurry compared to outside the tire).

 

Yes I guessed the other had to be clear polycarb but must admit the illusion is good.

The bike I saw with that style rear brake was at a cafe 40 or so miles away and looked to be a user rather than a show bike. Not a chopper but a fatboy sort of custom, very well put together.
