Assuming we talking uk here….How long ago did you purchase the bike? Age of bike makes no odds just how long ago you purchased it from a dealer please.

Consumer rights cover you for up to 6 years.
Consumer credit act under section 75 also covers you for 6 years if you paid part or all of the bike on a credit card.

The consumer credit act is the easiest to claim through where a dealer is not playing ball.

Within the last 2 years i’ve gone through the whole process. I had another member reach out to me and they too got sorted in the end. Happy to help where I can. PM me your phone number and i will give you a shout.

Whats the chances you are only around 20 ofd miles away if ur location is up to date on here. In the meantime have a read of this.

Fix the bike and let you have it, and give you another of your choosing for only what you owe yet on this one. If you choose a more expensive model, then that could be the difference, but I’d take that deal.
And if Triumph made that deal with me I’d be a customer for life.
    But they know that already.

I know I am late to the thread, however I have been watching it with interest, unfortunately the huge amount of mechanical issues that Bmwjay1000rr describes is unusual, yes the 1200 rs has issues, some machines suffer and others run perfect, regrettably the machines are not manufactured at the Hinckley Factory and it appears that the same level of quality control is not as seamless as the UK operation, secondly Triumph use different outside suppliers for engine components and electronics, again there is no real knowledge of the manufacturing quality of these parts once Triumph enter into a contract. I recall placing a thread on the 1050 Speed Triple that had constant clutch issues, I eventually traced that to a weak spring, and Triumph did update the part, I got a new quality replacement direct from Germany and it solved the issue. I think you have shown tremendous patience and personally I would have sought a refund some time ago, even if that meant taking the case to Court in the worst case scenario. My son bought his Speed Triple and given the issues he was so fed up he bought a new Suzuki Katana and would never go back to a Triumph. Yes It is true that you get issues with some machines, but yours is definitely not fit for purpose, even a new replacement engine fitted would affect the resale value should you sell it further down the line. Go for a refund and look at buying from an alternative manufacturer, attend the NEC Motorcycle Live event in November and sound out an alternative, there must be something you would be happy with, a machine that you go to press the starter and it fires up instantly and off you go enjoying a days riding. Ride safe all from an ageing Rocker.

So it appears that an awful lot of components have been replaced unnecessarily as the fault persists. Things like starter motors for example can easily be tested before replacement is considered necessary. I would question the competence of your dealer and if he is also the one that replaced the engine I would be more than a little concerned.
