As a scuba diver, this one really interests me, @Helmut Visor. But let me ask you this. Mr. Sandi and I are diving again in Cozumel in mid-October. Should I watch this movie before or after I go??
It's ok Sandy, this is about deep dive technical diving on rebreathers not the type of diving we do. I am off to the Red Sea next month and am more than happy
I don't go to movies unless I'm coaxed into it by one of my daughters. Prior to last week, the last in-theater movie I watched was the Clint Eastwood flick Gran Torino - a long time ago. Only went because my youngest wanted to take me. She knew I liked Eastwood, and I'm a Ford man. Anyhow, last week my middle daughter treated the wife and I to Oppenheimer. It's over three hours long! Movie dragged for the first hour. There was a big BOOM, then his fall from grace. I don't give actors/actresses much credit. We all act every day of our lives. Big deal. A large portion of them are attention seekers, substance abusers and mental cases. However, Robert Downey Jr. was excellent in this.
Have a fantastic time at--and in!--the Red Sea, @Helmut Visor. Steve and I are off to Cozumel again mid-October. I dove with an underwater photographer on a live-aboard some years back and he used a rebreather. Fascinating but I've no interest myself. It does sound like an interesting movie, though.
This has reminded me about Last Breath on Netflix. True story with actual footage from the diving bell. As well as a good film/documentary it gives an insight into the mindset of people that do that job for a living.
Thanks for the recommendation, @Nipper! I am a little concerned about the title, though. Is that some foreshadowing of the movie's ending?
Revisited "Solaris"... George Clooney, with one his HOT women and great characters. https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=e178...3d3cuaW1kYi5jb20vdGl0bGUvdHQwMzA3NDc5Lw&ntb=1
The Continental ( spin off of John Wick) 3 films on Prime. It's better than the last Keanu Reeves film. Stars Mel Gibson
We started watching this last night. Gotta agree with @stollydriver. Well, Mr. Sandi would agree. He has saved me from watching John Wick IV. We really liked the first three. But.... Now we're enjoying The Continental.
Steve and I just finished watching the series, "Reservation Dogs" and loved it. We'd thoroughly recommend it. Steve liked it from the get go but it took me maybe half of the first season to really get into it. From then on I was hooked...we both were. Wonderful and memorable characters. Thought-provoking, heartwarming...and some wonderful humor, too.
Sandi, I thought that you'd written "Reservoir Dogs" now that is a good film! not sure you'd take to it though if you're looking for: "Thought-provoking, heartwarming...and some wonderful humor"
If you ever plan on diving Roatan let me know. Me, the wife, and 5 kids all got certified (OW, AOW, Rescue etc.) there and go at least once a year. Great diving! OT, if you are the type that can look at others mistakes (real or fictional/theoretical) and learn from them, then watch such movies.
Thanks, @FezUSA. My hubby and I dove Roatan about 10 years ago or so aboard the Utila Aggressor. We really enjoyed it but at the time the lion fish situation there was out of control. I've heard that it's much better now. Is that the case??
We've been diving there since 2014. Used to be a lot of lion fish. My last couple of trips I've thought about doing the 'class' to be allowed to spear them, but have found that I saw maybe only 1 or 2 in the whole week of diving, including night dives. They're still around, but nowhere near as plentiful.
Thanks for the update, @FezUSA! I’m really glad to hear that the lionfish population is under control there now. .
Oppenheimer, last night in a small local cinema. Wow , what a powerful film. One that should be seen in a cinema.. The sound system got a good work out …!
Thanks for the post, @Oldskool! I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie....I'm presently reading the book upon which it is based. It's good to know that you recommend seeing it in a cinema because I might have thought that seeing it on the television at home would be ok.
