I'm in the market for an adventure bike. I'm not very tall so have narrowed it down to the Tiger 800 XR and BMW F750 GS. I'm know the subject of seat height has come up many times before but I'm sure I'll find the answers I want quicker this way than by trawling through the 'search' facility. I find Tiger designations a bit confusing, so bear with me (and it is bear not bare, I checked). Does the 800 XRX have the lowest seat? Is the 800 XRX LRH a different bike or is it the same but with a different seat (and is the seat interchangeable?)? How different are the lowest seat settings for the XRX vs XRX LRH? There seem to be more 800 XRT's around than XRX's, what is the lowest seat setting on the XRT? Apologies again for dragging up the same old same old but you'd be surprised how tricky it is to get answers to these questions, even from sales people, so I'm asking the experts (that's you). Cheers
Thanks littleade, that's useful. So am I to take it that the seat from the XRX Low cannot be fitted to the standard XRX? In other words you have to specifically buy an XRX Low and can't swop seats with the standard XRX? I'm asking because there aren't many Low's out there (I'm talking used) but quite a few standard XRX's.
Sorry, I can't provide you with the level of detail you're after. I looked at them when they came out and from what I remember they came without a centre stand because the suspension was lower than the standard bike, but have no idea what seat was fitted to either the low or standard XRX as I have a B*W
I have XRx LRH for your information th suspension front and rear is lowered which makes a triumph centre stand to long I think aftermarket may fit. I wouldn’t fit one as pegs ground out easily. I tried the BMW didn’t feel right seriously I fell in love with the triumph as soon as I sat on it. It’s been an amazing touring bike 65-70 mpg all day. ok on gravel but not off road if you go for 2018 or later you get LCD dash heated grips, cruise control. LED driving lights although not fitted the switch and wiring is. Need any more information drop me a line

My Tiger 800 XRX has an adjustable height riders seat. It is a really simple mechanism which simply involves moving the rear mounting bar on the seat to a different notch - I would imagine the other models, especially the higher spec XRT have this as well but can't confirm My inside leg is 29" and the seat height is ideal for me on the lowest setting. There are also "Low" versions available but they are not that common. They basically use different linkages for the rear suspension to lower it. It would be easy to retrofit these but there would be a knock on effect on the side and centre stands which would then be too long so would also need replacing. BTW, I find the centre stand a tad too long for ease of use on stock suspension settings. My neighbour had the BMW and didn't find it very inspiring to ride.
Thanks for all the advice. I've just been to the Superbike shop in Macclesfield and tried a few bikes for size. I doubt I'd buy a bike from them but they've got rows of Tigers and BMW's lined up next to each other. There's a BMW F750 GS with the perfect seat height for me, a couple of years old, 330 miles(!), in striking yellow and black, £7800. A Tiger 800, 4 years old, 11,000 miles, matt black, £7100. Neither come with luggage, although the Tiger has pannier rails. What I'm really looking for is low seat and full luggage, it's out there somewhere! Thanks again.
I've got Triumph Explorer panniers and a Givi Trekker Outback Top Box. The Triumph panniers are basically re- badged Givis but for some odd reason the Triumph mounts and lock barrels aren't interchangeable with the Givis. The luggage holds a fair bit and is very sturdy, I carry loads of camera gear in mine. A minus point, if you filter, is the RH panniers sticks out quite far because of the muffler.
Hey guys. I'm a newbie here. I just picked up an 800 XR, with 75,000 miles on it. I have a couple issues with it that I would like some help with. I would be extremely grateful for any help you can give me. When the clutch is out, the clutch plates chatter. When I pull the clutch in, the chatter goes away until I let the clutch out again. Do I need to change the clutch basket, plates, and/or bearings? While riding, the speedometer will quit working, and I get the three trouble lights. I see a this is an issue, but I can't find anyone talking about an actual repair for it.
