    Yes the snow capped mountains next to blue ocean was beautiful. I was layered up with thermals, so only the fingers really felt the cold, but the wet day was hard riding.
    It was spectacular for the rest of the trip.

    Arthur’s Pass and Lewis Pass were riding milestones, but Lewis would be challenging enough in the dry.

    I looked at the link you shared and also did a bit more research on Arthur 's and Lewis Passes, @Dartplayer. They look beautiful! But I completely understand what it's like to ride a challenging mountain in the rain and how it can take away from that beauty. It's nicer (and safer!) under those circumstances sometimes to just admire the mountain tops from a distance.

    The weather on the south island has now seriously deteriorated so well done with only getting wet. Brilliant report.
