I am thinking of swapping from my BMW R1200GS to a Sport 660. I test rode one and liked it. But what is it like to live with? What have owners found annoying or upgraded?
Hi and welcome. I have had my tiger sport 660 for a few months now, coming off a tiger sport 1050. I have say that the 660 is a cracking little bike. You need to work the engine a bit harder than it’s big brother to get it going hard, however for every day riding the bike is fine. Overtaking is no problem and the ride is comfortable. I recently toured in France for 12 days without any issues. The panniers and top box provide loads of storage for touring. I did wonder when I downsized that I would miss the extra 50bhp that the 1050 had, but to be honest I have not. I guess you are in a similar situation coming off the GS, but in my experience you will soon adjust to the smaller bike
IMHO...you should look elsewhere. My experience having owned Kawasaki/Yamaha for YEARS leaves me regretting giving Triumph a chance. I purchased a 2023 Triumph Tiger Sport 660 new and find it as follows. Perhaps not in line with other comments you will find the front brakes are mediocre at best. they lack bite. The bike handles very well and I have not experienced any of the vibration issues noted by others. Triumph mandates that you take your bike to a Triumph dealer for service or has you live with an annoying service light...although there is a way you can reset the maintenance interval yourself by purchasing software/ODSB. The bike has me regularly tightening the oil sump bolts as a means of preventing small amounts of oil from dripping onto my garage floor. Not something I have experienced with the makes noted above. Triumph also has a support site where you can obtain support for your bike. Given the lengthy maintenance schedule I asked about being notified as to recalls/software updates in between same...no response. I would not buy another Triumph...too many other good choices.
Your thoughts are just that. Mind I have to disagree with what you have said. I have owned my 660 sport for a few months now. I have toured in France and ride regularly each week and I have not found the brakes wanting at all. As far as the sump plug is concerned You should be able to get a new one under warranty, so can’t see why that is an issue. Of course it is up to you how you feel about your Triumph, but coming on a triumph Fourm and slagging the bike off is just not on. Just p!ss off and buy something else
Listen to yourself...a person asks for an opinion and I provide an IMHO one noting both the positive and negative of the bike relating to my experience. I further note that my experience may be different from others. So your position is that only positive cheerleader comments are allowed without any subjective criticisms. I trust you have had a bad day or are unfortunately so intellectually limited that your inability to cope with alternative perspectives creates a most obvious disability. Good luck.
Welcome @Mattib I have recently downsized from a Triumph Sprint GT 1050 to a Yamaha XSR700. There is no comparison when you think about tourers but the drop in power for me is a worthwhile trade off to have a lighter bike that is easier to handle. I am considering the Tiger Sport 660 as a tourer, with a Yamaha Tracer 7 as a close second choice.

I'm on my 6th Triumph and none of them have ever leaked oil from anywhere, including the oldest, a 1992 Trident. It's a new bike so take it back to the dealer to have it sorted under warranty instead of whining about it as your first post on a Triumph Forum. Also, how many recalls and software updates are you expecting?
I'm on my fourth, and the only problem I've had has a been a kinked fuel line. Solid, reliable, beautiful bikes.
Congrats on your previous 6 Triumphs not leaking oil...how many were Tiger 660's...none...making your comment pointless. Being asked as to my OPINION and expressing same is IMHO no "whining"...in fact I have many other motorcycles to ride so it's not an inconvenience just an unpleasant statement of fact. I am hopefully expecting none...but should a safety issue occur it would be nice to understand the process by which I would be notified of same. Perhaps something to consider...even if it hurts you more than me...Good Luck.
Ive had twelve Triumphs in 10 years. Had a few small issues with some but on the whole, they are reliable and solid. I do tend to give them a hard life though no manufacturer is perfect but Triumph rate high. I hear about issues with BMW more than I do Triumph.
Welcome in @Mattib . If you like the 660 put it on your short list, do some more test rides on other bikes you fancy then reride the 660. If you still prefer it to the orhers then buy one. I'm from the darkside.....tried a few Trumpets then bought a GS. That was back in 2015 and I'm still here, mainly to annoy the natives
