Hi all, I've a 2011 speedy with bridgestones on at present. When I bought it the dealer put a set on but after 3k the rear is starting to square...( I know - too much 'upright' riding...!) They're an older bt16pro and I know these are well outdated now. I've not really liked em tbh anyway as the handling just isn't as good as I expect I prefer a road / sport tyre, not track! - what's the forum recommend? Thanks
Michelin Road 6. I have had the 4's, now running the 5's and think they are brilliant! On my 2014 Speedy I put over 7000 on and they were still going strong when I swapped the bike for my RS. No slips or drama at all.
Over 8000 miles on my Road 5 Trail rear tyre. (Tiger Explorer 1200). Lots of two up riding. It's just starting to square off, but loads of life in it yet. Very confidence inspiring to ride.
Another shout for road 5's! If I had to criticise, I thought they felt slightly skittish if you were pushing the lean angles. But they're not really for that. They are brilliant all round and still have a quick turn in due to the profile.
I am currently running on Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV and very happy with them as they are holding their profile well without squaring off. I do tend to stick to the back roads though, which helps, and there are no motorways here in East Anglia. Got to say I am now a fair weather rider so not really bothered about wet weather performance. I have used Pilot Roads in the past and they are great tyres for all year high mileage riders.
As an added bonus, I’ve found the ride quality improved with the road 5’s . The bike seems a little softer on long journeys. As a road/ sport tyre as Guysal wanted , I think they are ideal.
Hard to beat, I love them but so so impractical when you can hit the wear indicator before 1000 miles
