The ball's in your court Mrs V! A new sibling for your 'Blade and ST would even things up a bit and 7 is widely known as a lucky number!
Oooh! What a great excuse for adding a bike to the garage…”Just keeping up with the Visors.” Now if only we had a bigger garage and I had more disposable income.
Good commute on the Blade for me today, got caught in rain showers on the way home but am very pleased I was earlier than usual as it has been peeing down pretty much since I got in!
Interested in your humidity levels with the record temperatures @steve lovatt. When we get 24celcius it is like 30c in Australia, due to muggy conditions. I also find ozone hole makes our sun hotter
Last commute of the week on the Blade - fantastic ride in, traffic - tastic ride home despite lots of enthusiastic overtaking.I can pick up my Street Triple tomorrow from its big service and return it to its home in the garage.
I took the XSR700 for a service today (it’s still in warranty) and wore my waterproofs because the ground was wet and it looked like it might rain. It brightened up for the trip back so I didn’t bother with the waterproofs and it pissed down half way home
Well yesterday was my Happy New Bike Day After getting a lift up to Preston I finally saw the bike and the deal was struck. I have never seen so many gismos on one bike, before now I only had one bike that even had ABS . The ride home was uneventful and many of the gismos were trialled on the 4 hour ride (turns out I have about a 4 hour butt) including cruise control. It's fairly easy even in Sport mode until I hit 7000 revs at which moment it instantly turned into a bit of a beast, luckily it was a Friday afternoon so the horns could only come out on a very few occasions. Anyway here are a couple of pics from when I picked it up, note the Ducati Lambourgini in the window (sold ). It will remain a bit of a garage ornament for the next week as I'm on call with work but will get out and about when I can.
Well, I wasn't on a bike as I'm away for a few days with the wife in the car, but thought some of you may find the following interesting. We called in to Altbergs in Richmond to look at their boot ranges including the motorcycle options. One of the major plus points of this company is the fitting process involves an ultrasound size scan, plus all full and half sizes are available in five width options so I'm sure just about any foot can be made comfortable ( bunions etc included). Anyway, enough about footwear but this did lead on to a fascinating conversation with the knowledgeable assistant. As they used to supply the White Helmets with motorcycle boots, when they were disbanded, the Army decided to sell the bikes off to recoup some funds. As Altbergs already had an interest, as a supplier, they were offered the opportunity to purchase one before they went to auction. This is one of the genuine bikes and helmets used. Based on a Triumph 750 but heavily modified for acceleration and jumping.
An interesting side note to the above; A customer came in for some walking boots, and when he saw the bike boasted that it was his in the past. He went on to explain that when they were issued, a person was assigned to look after and care for each unit, so therefore become responsible for any such future damage The shop did some research on the documentation and sure enough this guys name turned up. He and the bike are second from the left in the top group photo below.
