I think your right, Triumph later upped the power on the street twin, and more recently the T100

First ride out for a few days as we've been away so no riding for me.
Decent weather for now, well no bloody rain for once so North York Moors and a run to Grosmont Station via Rosedale Abbey.

The tearoom on the station platform is one of my favourite spots and the sausage sandwich is excellent. The car park is always busy but we are well catered for!

Plenty of steam on the Pickering to Whitby heritage railway.

Not today but have done it a few times now. Usually go up it, then turn around in the car park and go back down

I do like the old air cooled scrambler - just different enough from the bonneville with the 270 degree crank engine, smaller headlight and taller ride

Much as I like the Street Scrambler, the old 865 certainly does look more retro. The clocks look especially good on the older bike and let the SS down a bit IMO. They both sound very similar although the 865 is a bit (nice) louder with the after market pipe.

It's a shame to me to see bikes not used a lot - but great find for your brother in law!

My Street Triple is becoming a high mileage example for it's year, which on one hand is a shame and on the other means I am thoroughly loving riding it. My Blade was a low mileage example and remains so but I have already put a few thousand on - got lots of leeway until it becomes even average for it's year though I think.

I bought my Honda CB1000R off a guy getting divorced, with cash for obvious reasons, as he'd kept it in his mates garage :joy: from day one
Three year old and due it's first mot in one months time, I bought it off him at 224 miles :joy:

He did have a Hyabusa, Elsee, Honda 90 etc. so I think his (ex)wife maybe just lost count and he had bits stashed away.

I sold it at 15k miles in px for my 765, five years later.

They're Super Oscar LED's to replace some Hellas with HID bulbs when one of the drive units failed. I got them brand new for a good price on Ebay.:grinning:

Edit.....forgot to add I also had some Oscars on my first car, 1975 Capri Mk2 3000 GT..

Made a world of difference to my 2018 SC. Its still not a 1200 and neither do I want it to be; power is even across the whole rev range with the torque at least as good as it was before. So overtakes are much smoother and easier and performance is sensible for Britain's crowded and poorly maintained roads.

George's videos about why TEC made the camshaft are worth watching, he makes some good conclusions about why Triumph restricted the 900 motor. I suspect that Triumph realised the error of their ways when they improved the motor from 2019 onwards.

Don't fret about mileage and resale values Mrs V, just carry on as you are and enjoy your bikes:grinning:. Racking up high mileage used to concern me years ago when I first started buying brand new bikes but after a couple of trade in deals it dawned on me that I was just "saving" the bike for the benefit of the next owner! Since then mileage isn't even an issue, just keep a good maintenance schedule. When I sold my new 1198SP in 2011 after 3 months with 2500 miles on the clock the guy who bought it was concerned about the "high" mileage!:joy: He said he'd looked at bikes a year older with less than half the miles! "Have you been touring on this mate?":joy: On an1198, seriously!!!:joy::joy: He still bought it though, simply because it was IMMACULATE and literally like new, excluding tyres of course! :grinning:

The SS has a slightly different tune to the ST and it very torquey low down but the power does fall off abruptly above 4500 with little point in revving it out. That's a good point about the 900/1200 performance gap and a valid one I think which is why they will not make a SS1200 IMO.

Agreed. I had the original Street Twin for a while, and whilst it was fine in most situations it definitely need a bit more oomph in others.

Today I collected my Street Triple from its 12000 mile service, only a few rain showers so much more pleasant than last week's torrential rain I rode it there in. It's lovely to have it back and I have also had new sprockets and a lovely gold DID chain fitted (not needed for wear and tear, I just wanted them).

I had it done at Triumph Tech at Halfpenny Green - Lee is not only far cheaper than a main dealer, but you get a much better service and are supporting a small business too.
