Did you go over the Struie to Bonner Bridge rather than the NC500 coast route to Tain? My opinion the best wee road in the Highlands.

sure brings back memories. I was once pulled out of a ditch between Brora and Helmsdale during a blizzard. Speaking of which, have you ever ambled through the Backies or climbed the Ben Bhraggie to stand next to the Duke of the Clearances. Nice view from up there and great for clearing the cobwebs on a Sunday morning. Also worth stopping on the Struie at the Donrnoch Firth view point. there's usually pipes and drums on the Bishop's Square in Dornoch on a Saturday in the Summer (mind the midges) and Glenmorangie do a fine whiskey tour, though best to not be driving afterwards.

 

The old road was so much nicer - but agreed, probably a challenge on a Busa!

 

I also pre-date the NC500, and the Tain Bridge it crosses. This new road you speak of is unknown to me as I have long since moved to other shores. Ah the West Coast. There are tales to tell of first footing in Ullapool and Ceilidhs to keep you sweating on cold winter nights.
