Hi there, wondering if anyone has come across this - a sort of high pitched buzz that comes occasionally when passing through around 2300 rpm. I captured it on video here: PS it's not the windshield as I still have the sound even without the windshield. The only things I could figure that maybe buzzing is that the fender seems not stock - has a longer mudguard, and that the old owner put in a custom LED headlamp so maybe the casing is buzzing? It's a bit unsettling when it happens! Thanks in advance Ken 2015 Bonnefille
It sounds like a metallic resonance from something like the mudguard. Can you get the bike to make the sound with it on the centre stand? If so you will have to try and see if you can identify where the sound is coming from. It may well be the front mudguard, if so a tweak on the mounting bolts should ease it.
Hi there, I believe I have experienced the buzz in various gears, 1st to 3rd, and seems to be in lower speeds when the engine is pulling a bit...
I will try on the centre stand. I have taken off the mudguard and out some foam on the fender mounts and thkughtmi had it solved but it still happened , but seems less frequent.
I think I may got it figured out. Along with the crash guards installed seems to be a skid plate under the bike. I can feel it vibrating as I turn the throttle that rangez and tapping it does seem to emanatentuat soundm maybe I can stuff some insulation foam or something between the skid plate and the crash bar... Or is too close to the exhaust? Any thoughts? Wonder if the skid plate can be taken off but leave the crash guards on. Skid guard also makes changing the oil filter a pain... Ken
As a first step check the fastenings, are they tight? Do they have rubber inserts in the washers, if so you could try changing those. If it's not too difficult take it off completely and then go for a ride to see if you've fixed it. From the photos it looks as if it has seen some use with scrapes and scratches on it. Were they done by a previous owner or wheel you have had it? If you only ride on decent tarmac road surfaces then if that is causing the vibration leave it off. I hope you find tha solution I know that these types of noise can be very irritating and difficult to resolve.
Success! I wedged some rubber tubing in the gap between the skid plate and the crash bars and the noise is gone - what a relief! Eventually I think I'll take off the skid plate
