hi folks i am the lucky new owner of a 2022 speed twin 900 and its great but .if i carry a pillion the rear shocks dont seem to have enough damping it all gets a bit bouncy .so looking online for replacements it seems everyone lists rear shocks up to 2020 model year but no mention of mine are they the same shocks all the way from the early street twin up to mine or was something changed for 2020 on .thanks in advance for any help

Try Hagon I have used them for ever and would not go anywhere else these days. I phone them and they ask all the questions like weight style of riding. Pillion or luggage and they either make some for you or suggest the best fitment. Welcome to the family by the way. Do give us all a picture of the steed when you get the chance,
    Joe

Hagons are very good units although I haven't used them myself.

With regard to fitting parts listed for older models:-
Triumph list the same part number for the accessory Fox Shocks (A9640207) for both the Street Twin and Speed Twin 900. So you can be fairly sure that for most parts, if it fits a Street Twin it'll fit a Speed Twin 900.

That said the engine, front brake system, front suspension and rectifier location all changed from around 2019/20 onwards so be careful with parts associated with those systems.

I have Fox Shocks on my Street Cup (a Street Twin with drop bars) and am very pleased with them. A word of caution here, the Street Cup uses the same longer rear suspension set up of the Street Scrambler so the shocks aren't the same as for the Street/Speed Twin.

TEC bike parts list suspension items (and many other parts) separately for the Speed Twin 900 (but not rear shocks), Street Twin 2019 on (front and rear) and 2016-2019 Street Twin (front and rear). Their parts are usually very good (I have their progressive springs in my front forks. You could try ringing them about rear suspension for your Speed Twin.

    Enjoy your new ride.

Curious why you changed shocks. I have stock Street Cup shocks and unlike other OEMs I've had, they work very well for 2 up riding. The softest setting is good for solo riding but I leave it on the 2nd softest since it's mainly for riding the wife (with modified Street Twin seat). I'm about 190 lbs and she's about 140 and there's still 3 more stiffer settings to go. The bike my Cup is replacing has fancy PS shocks.

I think we can trust that the Fox shocks are more than bling; Fox are a well established suspension manufacturer with a good reputation, how good they are for the cost compared to other brands I can't answer; I can only afford to make my changes once.

I specced my Fox shocks from new, trusting they would be better. I'm about 95kg in my gear and ride solo, so I ride with the rear shocks set at Fox/Triumph's recommended solo settings and have been very happy.

Whereas it wasn't long before I was wanting to change the front suspension due to the bike feeling harsh and vague at the front compared to the rear (hence the move to TEC progressive springs).

All of which says to me that Triumph spec. their standard suspension down to a standard / budget that they can get away with.

I hope you find a solution that works for you.

I think that’s spot-on, Paul, and it’s pretty obvious that Triumph do indeed down-spec their shocks, knowing that many buyers will immediately upgrade to the Fox alternative. I did that on my Street Twin and I’ve done it again on my Bonnie, trusting to research that I’ve done (that is, that the Fox are of a quality that makes a tangible difference to the original OEMs).

Funnily enough, the next upgrade on my list is the TEC front suspension upgrade, as it does feel a little “vague” when riding progressively.

Good luck and enjoy your bike. I myself think you have done the right thing. I have purchased bits from ebay that were advertised as all singing to find they were rubbish and worn out.

a little update i fitted the hagons front and rear and have put a few hundred miles on them and can confirm that they are indeed a very good upgrade the bike solo handles very nicely and surprisingly nimble for something with such a laid back geometry .and with mrs struv on the back no more bouncy ride .one very happy owner. thanks everyone. oh i was so happy i went and bought a pair of uk vance and hines silencers that i had been watching on ebay brand new in the box for £500 now it sounds better too
