I bought myself a Thunderbird Storm last week that had been off the road nearly two years, and had advisories for worn tyres on its last MOT (2021).

I booked it in for an MOT and had two new Avon Cobra Chrome's installed. They were not cheep at £400 for the pair, but after 250 miles well worth it. Grippy and confidence inspiring on roundabouts causing sparks to fly from now well worn hero blobs! Great grip on country lanes and smooth on dual carridgeways.

    I really like them.

I thought Avon bike tyres were no longer available - they closed down the factory.

One of my riding buddies has a Bobber with Cobra Chromes he too is really pleased with them, the way he gets down the road is really impressive.

Avon still exist, they've been bought out by another manufacturer and production has moved to France. I'm not sure what's happened to their design and development, I hope that continues in some form, because I love my new Roadrider Mk2s: So much better than the Pirellis my bike came with.

I have them on my Nightstorm and really rate them, 4000 miles in and whilst they have squared a bit there is still 4.5mm of tread left ;)

Very popular with Harley riders in the UK.

Avon was bought by Cooper Tires in 1997, which, in turn, was bought by Goodyear in 2021.

IIRC, the Melksham factory made only a few thousand pounds profit per year, so closure was inevitable.
