Commute for me today on the Street Triple. I avoided the very worst of the weather for once, because I had actually been bothered to take my full waterproofs I am sure :p.

Filled with petrol, cleaned and lubricated the chain, fitted the tank bag and checked tyre pressures for a ride out with the Bishop of Chester and a few others tomorrow.

Here she is reasonably clean and ready to go.

Leaving V. early doors tomorrow so this had to be done today, weather good today, forecast for tomorrow lousy:(. She won't be this clean by the end of tomorrow, typical:rolleyes:. Here's hoping & praying anyway; this year is proving to be one when time on the bike is rare and precious.

Last week, when going to Barton bike night, I was aiming to tie in a few other ideas but the rain put paid that to.
So, today was a bit of a re-run in a way but on my own as all my mates were at work :joy: naturally I had to keep them updated throughout the day to stop them worrying

This Street twin is just getting better each time out, country lanes are such fun running the torque out of bends and the engine braking into the next.

    Part 2;
A long time friend, from my younger cycling days, moved to Goxhill and unfortunately passed away four years ago, so I took a can of Dr Pepper and a Cornish Pasty to have a chat with him.

Just down the road from here is a nice memorial from bygone years, I have previously posted here my 765 at the same location.

    20230713_160101.jpg

Then from here I went to view the Humber estuary and watch the world go by.

The City of Hull from the southern shore.
(That view is actually a fairly parallel set of bankings and the bay shape is purely camera trickery.)

I only have limited geographical knowledge of this area so was running Google maps (GM) on a Quadlock. I've found the best way for me is to set the destination then please myself ( that road looks interesting etc.) whilst Google keeps rerouting to resolve my errors
It was whilst looking at GM that I noted Gary Johnson had a shop so I called in. My youngest is 16 in January so the discussion in the house keeps going back to his dream of independence and a 50cc moped on the road.... oh to be so young again

Commute for me on the Street Triple, iffy weather but not shocking. Then straight on to our local bike night which was busy as the weather improved a lot, quite a few people there I knew - nice to get out for a bit with Helmut away :).

Quick run down to Triumph Chester on the Tiger Explorer, where they plugged it into their diagnostic machine and updated the ECU. Hopefully this will sort out the intermittent (rare) stalling issue, if not I'll have to look into the throttle body.
Seemed to run nicely on the way home.

Your bike is looking especially lovely in this photo, @RevPaul! Fortunately you have photo documentation of how clean it is -- or was, as the case may be.

I was going to ride up to Biggleswade for the Bike Lodge but a swift look at the weather put me in 4 wheels. The downpour outbound and the hooley all over the M25 on the return proved me right, however I was regretting it in the traffic ques.

Bike has been staying in the shop lately. So
have I. We recorded 118deg.F. today in the sun and 109 on my shady front porch. Not exactly fun riding weather. Been fooling around with my new helmet cam. Should be able to try it out as soon as it cools down a bit. ...J.D.

Short break from the Winter’s rainfalls was well timed for our scheduled club ride. Some members were away for the Māori new year (Matariki) holidays.:sun:

Trip up SH16 was an avoid the pothole event :poop:and the Tavern had limited parking with stall holder and customers taking over the bike parking :sob:

Interesting to hear that the creeping pothole lurgi is not just confined to the UK.

When I was working my job took me to Europe, particularly Germany. To drive on properly maintained highways was a revelation.

The state of the UK’s roads is a national disgrace.

I guess where I live is not the only place where riding on paved roads requires off-road riding experience. ...J.D.

Took my America out after dark Monday night. I wanted to check out the lighting modifications I did this year and try out my new helmet cam. I live in the middle of a incorporated city. Not only do I have to deal with no curbs or sidewalks, we have no streetlights. One place I had to slow down to an idle because there was 6-8" of sand washed across the road from last winter's storms. Corners are treacherous. Lots of sand on the tarmac. For THIS we pay city taxes ? ...J.D.

I agree, @Wire-Wheels! The roads in Tucson have gotten so bad that I sometimes contemplate trading my Mustang for a Jeep or pickup or something similar and (heaven forbid) my Harleys and Speed Triple for an ADV bike!

Thanks, J.D. We're setting record temperatures here, too. Yesterday my car was reading 115º.:cool: And Phoenix is even worse. We had one really powerful monsoon storm this past Monday. But we should have had at least several by now since we're well into monsoon season. That dropped our temps into the high 70ºs for the rest of the day. But then the next day it was back to HOT :sun::sun::sun: business as usual. You stay cool and safe in Berdoo, too.

It's not a big or involved job but obviously depends how handy you are.
Are you personally able to remove the rear wheel?
If so I would and the labour cost will be significantly reduced if you just give the shop the wheel ;)

So I took the lid off for a nosey inside and to check out what cam was in the Street Twin;)

    20230719_203907.jpg

I couldn't see a Triumph part number but did find the following etched into the end of the cam.
Can anyone verify if these numbers mean it's a standard item or point me in the direction of the supplier?
