Just joined the forum after acquiring a triumph T90p 1968 , the bike has been lying up 20 years in a garage. Ex An Garda Siochanna (Irish police bike) original log book 2 owners. Plenty of new spares came with the bike to try and rebuild it. Not sure where to start with it , restore or just a clean up, tank is full of sludge so any tips to clean that would be helpful, also came with new silencers but mounting points are different so also need help on that if anyone knows. Hi to you all
Greetings and welcome to the forum, @Mark K. That looks like quite a project. Many of us here enjoy watching other members at work on long range projects so hopefully you'll keep us posted on what you're doing and how it's going!
Welcome Mark, my thoughts if you intend keeping the bike is to remove and strip the engine to make sure the sludge trap in the crank is clear and then go from there.
Thanks Darkman I am unsure what to do with bike, I don't want to fully restore her but I would like to clean it up, maybe as a useable classic. The owner passed away along time ago and bike has lay for 20+ years in his brothers garage. Lots of spares and receipts, notes and letters etc etc, nice piece of Irish history tbh. The bike was well cared for but I don't think the owner was very mechanical although he did manage to keep her going all those years. Frame and subframe and other parts have been hand painted and it looks tatty now so I would like to clean that up and paint it correctly so might be a good idea to pull motor and get he looked at, she does have a few seeps from valve tubes so good idea and thank you for advice. Hopefully as I progress I might seek your help if you don't mind. Again thank you to you all for the welcome
Welcome Mark. Take it apart and put it back together again. Aim for the sludge trap, everything else will fall into place if you use that as your goal. Get a workshop manual and a spares catalogue Enjoy it and take your time Keep us updated
