Ok this may be me being really stupid but here goes. Needed a new centre stand rubber so got on to Triumph motorcycles and new one duly arrived, only it looks miles too big to fit the hole.

Decided to consult the Haynes manual..........they don't mention the centre stand at ALL in it??? Side stand yes nothing about centre.

Plus I cannot find on the Triumph spares list any mention of it either, what gives? Am I being super thick?

Triumph used my reg to order the bung [plus new bars which look correct] btw.

    Hinckley 2003 Bonnie.

Centre stand rubbers normally look to big for the hole, but they have a small ridge/ gap on them to locate into the hole as this extra rubber is all that holds them in, could help to apply a little lube, !!( stands back and waits for offensive comments )
[IMG]Not your particular rubber but they Look something like this.

I have one of these waiting to be fixes on the exhaust bracket or there abouts so the side stand doesn't clang, same dilemma. when I get the time I'm gonna boil it and see if that works

Had loads of 'fun' fitting rubber bump stops and other rubber bush type things in the past. Try a smear of washing up liquid, then when it's fitted wash it off otherwise it might start to attack the rubber. Swarfega works too, again just a smear then wash it off when fitted.
Don't use too much lubricant otherwise you'll be chasing the bloody thing round the garage:).

I accept that the recess has to be bigger than the hole [obvs]. I've measured it and the hole in the stand is approx. 5mm, the recess in the rubber is 15mm so that ain't fitting is it?

In addition the side stand has no rubber stop either and no evidence of it fitting anywhere too???? It comes to rest against the side of the main stand????

Nope as you say I dont think so , seems a tad to small a hole(or too big a rubber)
maybe a 2003 Bonnie owner is out there can answer this conclusively

Ah now that's interesting because the bracket that attaches to the silencer may be missing something.

It's a plain old bit of meta, without anywhere for the rubber to affix to. I'm thinking that the part that clamps to the silencer is there but something else appears to be missing!!??

Who'd have though a bit of [missing] rubber could cause so much hustle!!

On my Bonnie the rubber plug/bung thingy fixed into a plate on the lhs silencer, not on the centre stand.

Yeah I think you both are correct about it being non-standard fitment. I did ring up world of Triumph about this and they couldn't shed any light on this issue.

For now I've screwed the rubber to the stand with a spare allen bolt I had floating about the garage. Not ideal but ok for the short term.

I've just cleaned a couple of years worth of dirt and grease off of the stand this weekend so i'll get under the bike asap to see if a manufactures name is on it.

Yeah that's exactly what I thought. It's stopped it clanging against the l/h silencer bracket. Now to try and sort the side stand rubber which is missing too! And again no evidence of it actually having anywhere for that to go!!! Just rests/clangs against the centre stand.

There's a small scratch mark where it's been doing it for a while!!!

Ah the joys of being a motorcyclist/motorist. Never a dull moment.

I'm away for a couple of days in sunny Norfolk now but it's going to be roasting anyways over the next couple of days not really encouraging to perform any kind of fettling.
