Yesterday ride, on my favorite twisty road by myself... taking it easy , trying to be as smooth as possible , 300kms round trip, 4 hrs. But I scraped the pegs twice, I hate it when that happens , I feel I'm too close to the limit of leaning when the pegs touch the ground 1. Race bikes coming on the other lane, riding pretty fast and invading my lane, I started to ride slower and farther away from the other lane ... I scrapped the right peg ... as I leaned the bike more to stay on the inside ... I guess I should have brake a little more rather than leaning the bike 2. A blind right turn , not difficult, a bit wide, I felt good , a car comes on the other line with tyres on the middle line, it is almost the end of the curve , I was already accelerating and getting close to the middle line, I had to countersteer and the peg touched the ground as I passed close to the car ... again if I were going slower I would be that close to the center line. SO I guess I was not really taking it easy , need to cool down more
I hear you Armando, not sure a Thunderbird Nightstorm should be treated quite like that either but guess there's a reason the blobs are on the footpegs
That's what the "feelers", or hero blobs as some call them are there for, to tell you when your approaching the bikes lean limit before other things like fairings (if you have one) and engine casings etc start grounding out which can end in tears. Safe lean angle can obviously vary hugely between bikes. I dropped my first Fireblade in 1994 going into a familiar RH bend way faster than I'd ever done before, scraping the RH peg, then realising I wasn't turning quick enough, leant it over some more and down I went. The bike was quite badly damaged so I'm not sure what touched down first but it could have been the exhaust. The really embarrassing part was I'd just passed an Escort RS Turbo half a mile or so back and he just drove past without stopping, probably p*ssing himself. I must have looked a right tosser.

When I had the tiger 800 it would scrape pegs all the time, its only a shock the first few times... I actually ripped the feeler thing off completely on a pretty rough road surface! Depends on the bike. Other bikes that I've owned would be prone to this, scrambler 1200 and a bonneville. I had a loan of a bobber once, it was scraping the pegs as I rode it out of the dealers forecourt
My 800XRt used to scrape the pegs all the time. Cured it when I fitted a decent rear shock set up for my weight, they still scrape when pushing on but only very occasionally now...
