I'm looking to sell my (2005) Speed Triple with twin Arrow exhausts, Triumph T bar grab rail, Triumph fat bars, Triumph Baglux and large Triumph tank bag
I've still got the old exhausts and bars, though I wouldn't go to the bother of putting them back.
Is it better to sell the lot, as is, or return the bike to standard and sell off the Baglux, tank bag and exhausts separately?
    Thanks,

    Simon.

Your bike will sell quicker if you leave the extras on and you will get a little more (if selling privately) for it, but i think you will make more if you return the bike to standard and sell the extras separately

    Thanks for your reply.
There is a 2007 bike with 4,500 miles up at £4,200 on MCN
What do you think a 2005 with 10,200 miles with the above ad-ons should be advertised for?
    Plus what it actually worth?!
    Ta.

There are many, many buyers that look for absolutely factory standard bikes, in the hope they haven't been raced or thrashed. It doesn't matter whether their fears are real or not - they believe this. So they will buy the std. bike.

2nd thing: you'll get more money overall if you sell the aftermarket bit separately.

I'd leave the bit's on the bike. If you're selling privately then most people will customise to some extent(just have a look on here) so a few desirable extras could clinch the deal for some people.

Take the luggage off and sell that separately.

    Welcome to the forum.
The consensus seems to be that a standard bike sells well. You won't get anything extra for all the goodies fitted but they will always sell on later.

Most def, although its a time and effort hassle, return the bike to standard. Whilst a 'trinket' laden bike might appear more attratcive to some and therefore more sellable, this wont be reflected in the lsd returned against a bike in standard trim and the 'bits' being sold seperately (methinks). But hey, what do I know!

Personally your modifications to the bike are to personalise it to you.
So I don't see that as a reason to pay more for it.
If it was me I would return it to standard and sell the other bits separately.
Might be worth mentioning it to the buyer that you have those bits to sell, but make it clear they are for sale separately.

Thanks, I think I'll remove the mirrors, cans and the grab rail and list the bike cheaper.
By the way, I *did* try and join this forum years ago but after repeated attempts, never got the confirmation email :(

Always sell uncluttered pure and standard. If I see a bike for sale with plenty of extras on it I think it's been over spannered possibly had wiring hacked into and generally tampered with too much.

What attracted me to my Thruxton was that it had most of the mods that I was going to do and he had the originals in the package, low mileage and the price was only slightly more than I could get a standard one for, so saved me about a grand. Oh and it was blue!!

Depends what I replace it with!
It's been a great, great bike but I've had it for seven years and it is time for a change.
I've stripped it back to pretty much standard, except the handlebars.
I'll stick the bits for sale in the classified ads here. On that I could do with an idea of worth, please?
Titanium Arrow cans, no marks to speak of
Triumph baglux and tall tank bag, all bits with it (map holder, straps etc)
Lower pegs (specially machined to give another inch of leg room)
Grab T bar, on its own, no seat infill

Always remove the extra's and then sell them seperately. Then you have a little stash of folding to spend on more extra's for the new bike :D Unless it ain't worth the hassle - like a tail tidy!

    Agree with most answers here...

Strip back and sell separately if going the dealer route, you won't get any extra for them px, consider leaving em on for private sale. You want any prospective buyer to see he's gettin better VFM with your bike compared to others.
