Hey everyone! I’m not only new to the forum but new to bikes in general. I got my 2002 Bonneville back in December but had to store it because I go to school out of state. Fast forward to this week and I can’t get the bike to start. Took the battery out and charged it and it’ll at least start to turn over now but won’t quite go all the way. I’ve also noticed the left carb leaks a bit of fuel when the fuel tap is turned on. I’m completely new to bikes and carbs so any advice would be appreciated!
Hi and welcome, I can't give you the advice you're after I am afraid - there are plenty on here with loads of knowledge though.
Hi and welcome to the forum Leaking fuel from the carburetor may be a float issue. It happened on my old CX500 where the float had failed to shut off the fuel flow.
I have the same model year Bonneville. When you say "at least start to turn over now but won’t quite go all the way.", what exactly is happening? Does the engine crank but not fire or does it not crank at speed? One of the first things that I would suggest is that you get a Haynes manual and start to read through it. They are invaluable.
Hello & welcome to the site. Sounds like you may need your carbs cleaned & setup but first make sure your Battery is fully charges & turns the motor quickly. If motor turns over rapidly but won't fire most likely needs carbs done & fresh gas
Welcome from up in Joisey. Tough to diagnose over the interweb. Like Steve said, could be the float. Could be a gasket or a fuel line (which could be why it won't kick over - not getting enough fuel). A lotta "could be's).
Hi Kyle and welcome to the forum good looking ride, try a second battery to help turnover (or new one if possible) as they need good bolts. I hope you sort the carb/start issue and enjoy
