Headed the 70 or so miles over to SportsBikeShop near Boston to get a new pair of summer gloves. Lovely weather, and on the way I passed a milestone…

    milestone.jpg

That’s 5 miles to Boston, oh, and 50,000 on the bike in first 5 years of ownership :grinning:

(And yes, I did find a website that showed location of old milestones, and yes I did ride up and down the road for 5 minutes to get the mileage to clock over )

Brisk sunny day, :sun:perfect for riding. Beautiful table made from a sawblade and much more memorabilia on the walls at the Leigh Sawmill bar and cafe

Today I rode my Street Triple and Helmut his Tuono to a suspension set up day near to us that had Will from SWB Racing doing the set - ups. He is the person we went to see last year who did my Street Triple so Helmut thought he’d see what he would do for the Tuono - won’t steal Helmut’s thunder, but he’s chuffed to bits with it. I almost took my Blade but I just want to get to know it a little bit better first, there’s nothing immediately “wrong” with it to me that needs urgent sorting and I want to really feel what it is doing in detail first. I have put quite a few miles on, but the majority so far have been cold / wet so they have been less “carefree” than warm, dry ones.

It took a while whilst the Tuono waited for its turn and then Helmut went for his test ride, but it was great watching Will at work and learning from him :).

It was later than expected when we left and I abandoned my grand plans for a full day out, due to the time and the insane volume of traffic on the roads so we just rode to a local place for a drink and came home - under 40 miles ridden for me today.

It wasn’t uneventful as I watched @Helmut Visor take a pigeon strike to the upper arm whilst we were making fairly swift progress - it exploded and then a chunk of former pigeon hit my visor. Luckily Helmut just has a pretty sore arm from his murderous exploits and the bird detritus was easily cleaned off my visor, could have been worse!

So x5 of us decided to have a ride out yesterday. A meet up at Squires and we're off, x2 Triumphs, a Yamaha, a Honda and a Suzuki.
Calimoto was set to do its thing and Whitby area was the target. With a relatively new rider on board the SV 650 I elected to go at the back to ensure he was ok.
Top side of York we had a nice selection of country lanes with the city hustle left behind and the pace quickened. Unfortunately on one right hander one of us didn't negotiate it successfully.

Note the scratch marks from the now detached pillion footpeg

Thankfully there was a soft landing with the bike in the verge and the rider in the ditch : unamused:

A quick assessment and it was decided the walking wounded would return home at a steady pace

So me and my buddy plodded on with new vigor and a fresh destination.......

Helmsley for a plan session over a can of pop.

A decision was made to have a run over to Masham for fuel then over the moors to Lofthouse.

24 hrs fuel at Masham, card payments only!

Nice twisties over to Pateley Bridge from here.

And finally a very nice fish and chip tea for two.

Even managed to be home for 21.00 in time for the TT tv coverage

Looks like a lovely ride out @Eldon apart from the unscheduled departure from the road. It's just good to hear that both rider and bike are still in one piece and what sounds like fairly good shape.

It was the guy on the mt07.
Probably most likely a mid corner panic grab of the brakes causing the loss of traction.

Lesson learnt would be don't ride above your ability. Easily said, hard to put to practice in a group. Trying to keep up is tempting.

Solid days’ rider training with Pro Rider on their Gold course.
NZ ACC has a rego refund scheme ($100/year cash back) to entice riders to increase their safety skills, so I have done 4 Gold courses and a Silver over the last 5 years.
Well worth it for any level of skill and it paid for my track day

Weather was brisk :cold_sweat:, but fine:sun:, with some sun strike on the way home :poop:
Very enjoyable and tiring after 4 days riding. Ready for the ankle surgery now and 2 weeks rest :p

@Dartplayer that coaching's brilliant value for money; really good to a have a scheme that rewards safety training. Hope the surgery goes well and you have a swift recovery :).
