Originally from Wales. Permanent U.S resident 30 years ( Pennsylvania). Been a biker 45 years. Predominantly Jap owned. 1 AMF Harley SX175, & a recent Aprilia Tuono V4 1100. (a 2016 RR) - fantastic beast! Sold that to buy a new Yamaha XSR900, ordered April ‘22, didn’t arrive at dealer ( which was in Queens, NY as no local dealers were allocated any!) until late Sept/ early Oct ‘22, so deferred for a ‘23. Still hasn’t arrived, so, yesterday I went to the “local” Triumph/BMW dealer (Hermy’s in Port Clinton, Pa) & bought a ‘24 Triumph Street triple 765 R. Had a great test ride, so deal was sealed picking it up tomorrow! I have questions on radiator guard, windshield or flatscreen & possibility of front fender extender, so I’ll put that on the street triple “tech” forum, or parts? Thanks. Looking forward to some shenanigans on the “wee beastie”
Hi and welcome! I have an Evotech radiator guard on mine which is great (and saved the radiator when I hit a pheasant not long ago!) and a Powerbronze screen which is also great; I am guessing you have paid extra for the front cowl on the R to enable a screen to be fitted as well? What colour have you gone for?
Hi, thanks for the reply and recommendations :I have the “silver ice” - it’s sorta stealth & similar to the Tuono I recently sold - plus it doesn’t clash with any gear I have ( mostly black/grey/white!). I don’t have the extra cowl you refer to, but it seems Puig do a decent looking screen that fits directly atop the air intake above the headlights. Make them in clear, light & dark smoke. Haven’t seen too many others over here. Radiator guards are one of the first things I add to any water cooled bike. I had a radiator holed at the racetrack (of all places!) on my track only ‘05 GSX-R1k. Wasn’t pretty or fun. I have seen the Evotech rad guards - they seem to be decent and readily available. Something else I regularly add is a front “fender extender.” It seems odd to me that these manufacturers put aesthetics over form & function - the chopped front mudguards are virtually useless & leave the radiator/oil cooler vulnerable to eventual damage. They are not common here ( I have one from UK on my ‘97 Bandit 1200 & had one on my Kawasaki 1400. I see Pyramid plastics are quite prevalent in UK, but In not even sure adding one would help the 765 as the rear of the from guard is so short.?
Howdy neighbor, from across the Delaware in the Socialist Republic of New Jersey. I've been out to the Cabela's in Hamburg a few times. I'm in southern New Jersey. The closest dealer is Quaker City Motorsports in Manyunk (Philly), which is a bit of a haul for me. Good luck with the Triumph.
Wow, no dealers closer than Manayunk? - that is a haul - depending where in Joisey you are. The dealership I went to is Hermy’s BMW/Triumph, literally up the road ( Rt 61) from the Cabela’s you mentioned. 35 miles from me here in Allentown. Good place, good experience - and I’m not & never have been much of a dealership frequenter! Bike seems to be great so far too
Uk here, I’ve got the same in Crystal white, rad guard is something I’m looking to get probably go for Evotech as for windshield etc not messing with that it spoils the look in my opinion but everyone to there own …..
